He's kind of always been a douche; I don't think he's ever claimed not to be. What has he said that has been misogynistic, though? I remember that he's had some videos criticizing feminism, and I assume that's what you mean. I don't really remember the actual content of the videos, though.
Edit: Seriously, Ironbite? Wow, I didn't know he ever said something that bad. Do you remember the specific video? I'm quite curious now.

Now, I definitely think he was an asshat in regards to the above link, but that doesn't mean he doesn't make good points in some other issues. It's just that his dickish behavior has made it much harder to take him and his views seriously.

No, nothing to do with Kony 2012. It was about three separate deaths and him wondering how the human race can have progressed so much, yet still be capable of such horrible things (to sum up his point).

How can the human race have progressed so far and yet have someone actually wish rape on a feminist in a rather vitriolic manner for no other reason than he knew it would strike a sore spot with her, because he knew she had been raped in the past? And how can this same person claim to be so above humanity that he can question such a thing?
Serious:
The problem is that we're human. We may evolve, but as long as there is any difference of opinion, there will always be things like hate crime, discrimination, social inequality, etc.
Hell, even holy wars. Even if religion completely dies out, there will be a "holy war" eventually, because there are always other banners to march behind.
Of course, that's not to say the human species isn't improving. There used to be many more wars over things like land. There are still wars over this thing, such as the war between Israel and Palestine, and then there was the thinly veiled oil grab as a reaction to 9/11, but to be quite honest, we do seem to have improved somewhat.
Hell, the fact that there's as many equal rights now is progress.
