Well, they are doing in in their "Earth 2" series, which is typical of DC. Whenever they do something really interesting to a character, they always do it in a parallel world or alternate dimension so they can just take it back whenever they like.
And it seems I was right, after all. It is one of the scrubs from the Justice Society, although I think it is a major stretch of the language to refer to Alan Scott as "iconic."
Plus, is anyone else amused that they chose the character whose official vulnerability is "wood" to be gay...?
