There is a quote I saw from a Finnish imagesite listing all the crazy memes from previous years and making a statement that people should make sloths into the meme of 2013. It might have started elsewhere but it certainly seems like sloths are a forced meme that got popular.

I've read about police using knifes like that for training, because simulates the pain (and fear!) of a real knife fight.
