The joke isn't the pictures, but that things like them exist but are taken seriously.

The “Cat Carrier” is from an older cartoon. I saw an illustration of the same device years ago. The “Focus on the Feline” bit is new, though.

I remember when Bonsai Kitty came out on the net. People went utterly batshit over it.  ::)  Maybe the Wayback machine would show some of the old comments. People took this quite seriously back when the word "troll" was largely unknown, internetwise.

Also that one about growing chicken meat in a lab, kinda similiar to how veal is produced. Very hard to find the original, around about the same time or a little after.
