Long term resolution. Morally (ethically?) I have no problem with chemically induced escapism. I've really enjoyed it for years. But it was noticeably drawing me too far from my family. In a rare moment of clarity, I realized that. I tried to walk the line but failed. Mrs. Rookie never said a word to me about it, neither did the Rooklets. But the weed was taking me away from where I had to be so I had to be an adult about it. I'd like to go back, I really truly liked weed. And I miss it. I miss sleeping and being emotionally stable (goddamn withdrawal) but this will pass and I'll be enjoy being more involved with my family. And the money I've already saved.

My brother got me an authentic Viking drinking horn for (late) Christmas.  In celebration, I have acquired a bottle of mead and a large bottle of Lucky Bastard.  I've heard good things about the latter, and its difficult to cock up sweet mead.

There's nothing like getting to watch a conservative your age (he says he's not a conservative, but he also called Hillary a terrorist, voted for Trump, and called Pence a "cool stand-up guy who'd make an amazing president") get ripped to shreds by your uncle and cousin. Even better, he tried to call my uncle, an X-ray tech over 50 years of age who puts in over 60, maybe over 80 hours of work a week... An entitled millennial. Needless to say it did not stick.

Thanks everyone. I put a few pictures up in the Member Picture Thread.

It's going to be kind of a small civil ceremony on the 23rd to get the paperwork done. We're planning the big wedding with the whole family and such for next year. This one's going to be sandwiched between getting her things ready to move and making the trip down from Washington to Arizona together over the next week. We've largely been communicating through Skype and FaceTime save for the times we've been able to visit each other (which have of course been wonderful).
