Quote
In his speech at God and Country last June, which immediately followed Shea’s speech, Robertson said: “Of course, you all know that you should have an AR-15 and a thousand rounds of ammo, right? Because Antifa is kicking up and getting ready to defend, right?”

Shea’s speech flirted with themes of civil war, but mostly focused on the idea of separating eastern Washington out into a separate political entity, with the view of having “an entire geographic area repent”.

He began by proposing “a simple idea that may make you cringe a little at first. And that idea is that liberty must be kept by force.”

Shea said the reason America was no longer a “beacon of Christianity”, was “because of compromise. And it’s not knowing that the communists are training, they’re planning, they’re organizing and they are lying in wait.”

...

At Marble, Robertson blamed Democrats for the supposed impending insurrection, saying: “Maxine Waters says we need to take the struggle to them and get in their face and be confrontational and Antifa and the communists are responding to that message, are they not?”

Am I the only one who thinks that it is not normal for politicians to tell people to arm up and prepare for a civil war? A religious civil war even.

Quote
“We’re here to take dominion under Christ,” Byrd reminded Shea at one point in the broadcast. “As you know, that has to do with government.”

There's so much to tackle here. Antifa fearmongering. Fearmongering about Communists at this time and age? Bringing up a Democrats name right after telling people to get ready to kill their enemies? And once again the separation of church and state means nothing to the GOP. I will not be surprised if the next massacre in USA will be because of shit like that coming from politicians.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

I can't help but suspect that the gun lobby told him to drum up a few sales.

I'm more scared of the day when a group of crazy people decide to take matters into their own hands and we have a president who will let them.

Matt Shea? Same guy who wrote a memo about forcing everyone to follow Biblical law (and killing all the males of any group that wouldn't comply) and also offered to run background checks on people whom some white nationalists wanted to target.

Quote
Shea has been the focus of news articles related to angry outbursts at his legislative office, and a report claiming that he was disarmed by a commander while he served in Iraq due to anger management issues.[21]

Differences between Shea and Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich resulted in Shea stating "the Southern Poverty Law Center — and the sheriff (Knezovich) that backs them — is the most dangerous organization in this country". Knezovich is a Republican, like Shea.[22]

Shea has frequently clashed with journalists, referring to reporters as "dirty, godless, hateful people" at an August 2018 gun-rights rally.[23] He refers to local newspapers as the "Socialist-Review" (Spokesman-Review) and the "Inslander" (Inlander).[24] Shea's contentious history with the press has attracted particular attention because he is one of eight state legislators on a Washington Legislature task force dealing with state public records laws and exemptions to them.[23]

"Biblical Basis for War" manifesto
In late October 2018, Shea acknowledged that he had distributed a document described as a "four-page manifesto" titled Biblical Basis for War that listed strategies that a "Holy Army" could employ. The document, consisting of 14 sections divided into bullet points, had a section on "rules of war" that stated "make an offer of peace before declaring war", which within stated that the enemy must "surrender on terms" of no abortions, no same-sex marriage, no communism, "must obey Biblical law", then continued: "If they do not yield — kill all males". Shea acknowledged the document and claimed that it was a summary of "biblical sermons on war."[1][2][25] Spokane County Sheriff Knezovich alerted the FBI to the manifesto and claimed that the statements made in the manifesto are consistent with a racist, anti-Semitic, and white supremacist ideology known as Christian Identity, which seeks to establish a "white homeland" in the US northwest.[2][3]

Violent right-wing chat group
In April 2019, The Guardian published chat records from a right-wing chat group of four people that Shea participated in, where Shea used an alias of ‘True Warrior’ in Latin. Other members in the chat group discussed carrying out surveillance, intimidation and violent attacks on political enemies, including "Antifa" activists and "communists". Shea himself volunteered to conduct background checks on residents of Spokane, resulting in Shae naming three individuals. One of the chat group's members provided the records to The Guardian, while another confirmed the existence of the chats and acknowledged the discussion on conducting surveillance on "Antifa" people.[26]

Yeah, but I'm waiting for the big one. Like full on alt right take over of a state government building, and Trump doing nothing to stop it.

That arguably already happened under Obama, with the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

Yeah, but Obama would have stopped something like that if it came to military force.

There, and previously with the whole Bundy ranch thing in Nevada, IIRC they were shooting at law enforcement.

Meanwhile, when licensed gun owner Philando Castile was killed* in cold blood by a cop after properly disclosing that he was carrying a firearm, the NRA went silent for days.

*I say "killed" and not "murdered" since the cop was acquitted, even though, from what I know, at least, I think it was a wrongful acquittal, and may have had more to do with court precedent on when police officers can discharge their firearms than the actual facts of the case.
