Title: This or that?
Post by: Sleepy on February 19, 2013, 09:20:37 pm
I know we had this game on Proboards, so I figured I'd bring it back. It's quite simple. Example:

Person 1: Puppies or kittens?

Person 2: Kittens, because they go mew mew mew and don't eat your shoes.

Then person 2 gives another this or that question, and so on. I'll start.

Winter or summer?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Sleepy on February 20, 2013, 08:52:52 am
That's like asking if I want to be burned to death or drowned. I'll have to go with Skrillex.

Tomboy or super-girly?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on February 20, 2013, 08:56:13 am
I'll go with tomboy. Much less likely to be a prissy little shit.

Orange juice or apple juice?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 20, 2013, 12:50:20 pm
Orange juice. I like them both, but apple juice gives me wicked bad gas.

You've been magically changed to the opposite gender, but your mind is still the same. What do you do first?

Experiment with heterosexual sex as a member of your new gender

OR

Experiment with homosexual sex as a member of your new gender?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Material Defender on February 20, 2013, 03:07:42 pm
Homosexual, because I've always had an interest in that sort of thing. I'm bisexual anyways, so it'd be more new than the other.

What is better in battle, Rage or Bravery?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on February 20, 2013, 05:09:57 pm
Bravery, rage leads to mistakes and mistakes can get you killed in battle

Aliens have invaded would you rather fight

Giant Squad aliens that like to eat humans alive or Cybernetic aliens that  assimilate their enemies.
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Flying Mint Bunny! on February 20, 2013, 05:56:50 pm
The assimilating ones, because i'd like to be halfway assimilated and get loads of great new abilities like firing rockets from my hands, etc etc.

Submarines or Zeppelins?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 20, 2013, 06:05:05 pm
Zeppelins.

Movie Jokers: Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Saturn500 on February 20, 2013, 07:49:24 pm
Heath Ledger, because of the memes.

Bullet hell shmups (like Mushihimesama Futari and Touhou) or traditional shmups (like Gradius and Xevious)?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Askold on February 20, 2013, 08:47:51 pm
Traditional definitely.

I have fond memories of Xenon1&2 and personally I just don't like bullet hell games.

In shooter games: Regenerating health or health packs?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 20, 2013, 08:53:50 pm

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Auggziliary on February 20, 2013, 09:03:24 pm
Lion King, Scar is badass.

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on February 20, 2013, 10:07:15 pm
Cantaloupe, honeydew taste disgusting to me.

Kirk or Picard (don't know if I'm spelling his name right)
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: rookie on February 20, 2013, 10:51:14 pm
At the risk of being unpopular (and judging the character, not the actor) Kirk. His mission was more exploratory than diplomatic. And he commanded George Takia.

Coffee or tea?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ironbite on February 21, 2013, 12:42:38 am

Um...metaphor for a political witch hunt I guess

You can go back in time and stop one assassination who do you choose to save

Do you save John F Kennedy or Do you save Doctor Martin Luther King Jr?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 21, 2013, 08:41:06 pm
MLK, especially after some of the things that have come out about Kennedy in the last few years.

You have the chance to go back in time and assassinate one man before he rises to power. Hitler or Stalin?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Random Gal on February 22, 2013, 02:15:48 pm
As a member of the Wallace clan, I have to go with Sir William there.

Nintendo or Microsoft?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Saturn500 on February 22, 2013, 03:10:04 pm
Nintendo, because they have better first-party titles, and the only real reason I can think of to get an Xbox 360 over a PS3 is for the shmups, quite a few of which are Japan-only (albeit region-free)

(Regarding MST3K) Mike or Joel?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ironbite on February 22, 2013, 03:14:18 pm
Mike.  Joel may have created the concept but damn if Mike didn't have a better delivery on his lines.

Ironbite-Selena Gomez or Vanessa Hudgens?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 22, 2013, 06:05:43 pm
Selena Gomez.

Redheads: Ivory-skinned or freckled?

Title: Re: This or that?

Your weapon for a gladiator-style fight to the death: Fire axe or bladed chain?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Saturn500 on February 23, 2013, 04:12:02 pm
Bladed chain, I'd prefer to keep my distance.

If forced at gunpoint to purchase an Apple product, would it be an iPhone, or a Mac?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on February 23, 2013, 04:25:55 pm
iPhone I've been meaning to get one to replace my old LG Rumer Touch for like two years now.

Boss battle time! Who do you battle

Gannondorf at the end of Ocarina of Time or Cefca Palazzo from Final Fantasy VI?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ironbite on February 23, 2013, 05:24:42 pm
Gannondorf because if a fairy boy in green undies can beat him, I think my Ak-15 has a shot.

Ironbite-Pathfinder or D&D?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Random Gal on February 23, 2013, 10:17:29 pm
Pathfinder. It improves a lot on 3.5 edition and isn't as messed up as 4.0 is.

Pirates or Ninjas?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Osama bin Bambi on February 23, 2013, 10:41:35 pm
Ninjas. I'm not sure why this is still even a discussion. Even though pirates may have superior weaponry, they are essentially limited to the oceans and often sport crippling physical limitations to boot. Ninjas are much more maneuverable and have nearly supernatural powers of stealth.

Ghouls or Vikings?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on February 23, 2013, 11:29:43 pm
Vikings mostly cause I find them more awesome.

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Sleepy on February 23, 2013, 11:48:54 pm

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Osama bin Bambi on February 23, 2013, 11:50:57 pm
Mexican food. It has more dairy in it.

You can only drink one beverage for the rest of your life. Coca-Cola or 7Up?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on February 24, 2013, 06:26:25 am
Coke. I love that stuff.

Internet porn or strippers?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 24, 2013, 08:13:06 am
Strippers. You can get lapdances from them, and while porn is nice, nothing beats the feeling of an actual human body against yours.

Futurama or The Jetsons?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ThunderWulf on February 24, 2013, 07:57:23 pm
Futurama. Duh.

A Nut Goodie or a picture of Anna Nicole Smith?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on February 24, 2013, 11:08:28 pm
I guess a Nut Goodie since that sounds like a snack food.

Space Games HO!!!

FTL: Faster Than Light or Gratuitous Space Battles?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on February 25, 2013, 06:16:08 am
FTL hands down. It really nails the feeling of captaining a small space ship through hostile space like no other game I've played.

Indie Adventure time.

To The Moon or the Blackwell series?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Saturn500 on February 25, 2013, 07:32:09 pm
To The Moon, because I've actually played it.

Ys I or Ys II?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on February 27, 2013, 12:59:12 pm
No idea what you're talking about, so I'll go with Ys II.

Which fetish do you like more: Furries or nuns? And yes, I do know there's nothing preventing overlap.
Title: Re: This or that?

Um...furries

Which would you rather go through

A Root Canal or a Prostate Exam?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on February 27, 2013, 10:17:41 pm
Prostate exam. It's a tad uncomfortable, but at least there are no needles involved.

Video games: Linear and very tight story and gameplay, or a big open sandbox in which to fuck about?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on February 27, 2013, 11:06:25 pm
Big open sandbox. Nothing but exploration for hours on end is fun.

Mass Effect 4: krogan love interest or vorcha love interest?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 01, 2013, 09:13:42 am
Never played Mass Effect, but in the interests of keeping the thread moving, I'll go with the Krogan.

Listening to Skrillex or sticking your head in the toilet?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Southern Comforter on March 01, 2013, 09:20:22 am
I don't know. Doing both will make me look like trash. I'd have to go with... sticking my head in the toilet. Much less humiliating.

Molested? Or genius?

Neantherdal they look like humans so.

Stabbed or shot?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Southern Comforter on March 05, 2013, 05:39:12 pm
Shot. Less chance of infection, lead poisoning as a result is rare, and if it hits the right spot, you die quickly and almost painlessly.

Dogs or cats?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on March 05, 2013, 06:13:30 pm
Dogs. Less likely to claw your face off if you touch their stomachs.

Hollywood or Bollywood?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on March 05, 2013, 06:56:30 pm
Much as I hate to say it, Hollywood. Too many Bollywood movies cross the line from enjoyably silly to just plain stupid, IMO.

"Life of Pi" or "Slumdog Millionaire"?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Flying Mint Bunny! on March 13, 2013, 09:37:18 pm
Haven't seen either of them, but I will choose Life of Pi because it has a tiger in it.

Kevin Bacon or real bacon?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ThunderWulf on March 13, 2013, 10:13:06 pm
Real bacon.

Blind or deaf?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 13, 2013, 10:13:40 pm
Deaf.

Losing an arm or losing a leg?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Alehksunos on March 13, 2013, 10:34:39 pm
Arm. No way in hell do I want to spend almost my entire life in a wheelchair. That is, unless I can afford a prosthetic leg.

Titanic or Avatar (two films I consider very overrated)?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 13, 2013, 10:38:17 pm
Titanic. I have a special hatred for Avatar.

What's a worse love story. Chris Brown and Rhianna (no idea what her last name is) or Twilight?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 14, 2013, 01:22:26 am
Option the former.  At least Twilight's fictional.

Spicy or mild?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Søren on March 14, 2013, 03:15:59 am
Mild, all the way.

Large work dogs or small companion dogs?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on March 14, 2013, 05:36:36 am
Small companion dogs. They are more portable, can easily sit on your lap and snuggle up without squashing you.

Which are worse - Nice Guys or Pickup Artists?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 14, 2013, 08:24:23 am
Nice guys.  Pickup artists don't put on a false pretense.

Caffeine or Decaf?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 14, 2013, 09:52:39 am
Caffeine. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?

Would you rather lose all of your fingers, or all of your toes?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on March 14, 2013, 09:56:11 am
Toes. I do more with my fingers.

Would you rather have opposable toes or a tongue you could shoot out and grab things with?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ThunderWulf on March 14, 2013, 10:23:35 am
Opposable toes.  That would be badass.

Which is scarier sky diving or base jumping?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Ranger_Joe on March 14, 2013, 01:27:13 pm
Base Jumping. If you fuck up, you bounce off the base all the way down.

HALO or LALO? (the troop air insertion acronyms...High Altitude Low Opening or Low Altitude, Low Opening)
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on March 14, 2013, 05:38:45 pm
HALO jumps mostly for the story afterwards also cause If I get the right commander I  can get him to say what Major Zero said in Metal Gear Solid 3 "Spread your wings and fly god be with you." and that would be awesome.

Fast roping down a building or Jumping from a airplane without a parachute?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Flying Mint Bunny! on March 14, 2013, 05:45:21 pm
Fast roping as that sounds a lot less dangerous.

Coco Pops or Frosties?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Scotsgit on March 14, 2013, 07:43:59 pm
Coco Pops:  As an added bonus you get a free drink of chocolate milk.

Irn-Bru or Virgin Cola?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on March 14, 2013, 07:50:15 pm
Irn-Bru it sounds like it might be good.

You have been given the opportunity to work at one of these two research facilities which would you choose?

Aperture Science or Black Mesa Research Facility?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Alehksunos on March 14, 2013, 08:34:36 pm
Aperture Science, because it doesn't get infested with horrors from another dimension or captured by terrorists if I am to survive and play "hero."

Edit: If I'm not lucky and is one of those workers, I'd rather suffocate on neurotoxins than be mauled by monsters (or worse, become a headcrab zombie). So yeah, I've picked wisely...?

Of two genres of music that was popular in the 1980's - which people now consider embarrassing - which would you rather listen to?

Synthpop or Arena Rock (read: "Hair-bands")?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ThunderWulf on March 14, 2013, 08:53:44 pm
Hair bands.  I'm a metalhead, so that one was pretty much a given.

Would you rather it never be nighttime, or never be daytime?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 15, 2013, 02:46:02 am
Never be night time. No sunlight ever would mean a slow and painful death for almost all living things, including humans. No night time, on the other hand, would mean solar power is twice as effective. Win-win, if you ask me.

Would you rather eat a live cat with only your bare hands, or starve to death?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 15, 2013, 03:15:25 am
Damn you and your ethical dilemmas.  I suppose...starve?  Hopefully I'll never have to choose between these.

Scotland: The Brave or Depraved?

Depends upon my mood.

Become an international man of mystery or a playboy?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 16, 2013, 03:14:23 am
Playboy.  I think posing for nudes would feed my naughty attitude.

In a family with three children, ould you rather be:

- Oldest Child
- Middle Child
- Youngest Child
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on March 16, 2013, 10:20:34 am
Oldest. I could take my frustrations at life out on the middle and youngest and pass it off as "helping build character."

You are sleeping with an incredibly hot person of your choice, only to find out mid-coitus that they're a movie monster. Zombie or the Thing (as in John Carpenter's)?

Zombie.  I don't have enough brains to worry about.

There's your answer.

Would you rather live in a third-story apartment with a big dog it was impossible to housebreak or a small house in a nice neighborhood with a little dog that tried to hump everything in sight, including ejaculation?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on March 16, 2013, 11:15:12 pm
House in neighbourhood with amorous dog. Not much worse than my current dog.

With which movement would you rather identify - Enlightenment or Romanticism?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 16, 2013, 11:23:21 pm
I'll go with enlightenment. In my limited knowledge, romanticism is just the lower class version of reactionarism (reactionism? reactionaryism? Dicked if I know).

Goddamnit, wrong fucking thread. Again.

would you rather be rich and powerful in the 1700's, or lower-middle class today?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 17, 2013, 03:40:01 am
I'd rather live today.  Society has come so far and I wouldn't want to miss any modern trappings.

Would your rather be able to change genders or become a child again?  Assume your mind stays intact for both.
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on March 17, 2013, 04:23:57 am
If it means I don't end up going back in time, become a child. I am very excited about the future of science and technology, and I want to live long enough to see what happens.

Would you rather become a Tolkien-style elf or a super-strong robot?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on March 17, 2013, 09:43:56 am
Robot. Less chance of a random orc mook getting me with an arrow or whacking me with an ax.

Would you rather rent a room from the Joker or Loki?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ThunderWulf on March 17, 2013, 04:30:52 pm
Joker.  They're both insane, but at least Joker doesn't have magic powers to boot.

If you could be any video game character ever, who would you be?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: ironbite on March 18, 2013, 01:01:51 am
Master Chief.  Hello Cortana.

But getting back to your Loki is insane bullshit, he's not insane.  He's the god of mischief.  Even the ancient Norse myths don't portray him as insane.  Just really into mischief.  In the Marvel Universe, all Loki is after is some kind of admission from Odin that he's as good or better then Thor but doesn't know that Odin loves both him and Thor equally.  Its his ambition to overcome his brother in a competition that only exists in his own  mind that makes him so tragic.

Ironbite-Who would you rather hang out with?  Castiel, Sam, or Dean Winchester.
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on March 18, 2013, 01:11:10 am
I've no idea who any of these people are, so I'll go with Dean Winchester, since he's the only one who's good enough to have a last name.

If you had to either join the Church of Scientology, or become a Catholic priest, which would you choose?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Captain Jack Harkness on March 18, 2013, 01:24:22 am
I'd go with the Catholic church.  I think that they're less crazy, and I'd like to shake shit up. XD

Maggie because she is adorable and surprisingly expressive.

Who is grosser: Snooki or Hannah Montana (in her "grown-up" style)?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Zygarde on March 19, 2013, 02:20:09 am
Snookie, she looks like a fucking tanned gremlin (funny thing my spell check autimacly tries to change her name to snake)

Which of these is the better way to die?

Death by sharks or Death by being beaten by 30 rabid orangutans with razor blades taped to their hands.

Which would you rather existed: the Abrahamic God or the Aztec pantheon?

The Aztec pantheon. At least they're honest about being violent and bloodthirsty.

Same question, but with the Greek pantheon or the Loa.

Anchovies all the way. Whoever thought pineapple on pizza was a good idea needs to be shot.

Most pointless sexual activity; tonguing someone's nostril or licking their armpits?

Licking the armpit. At least the nostril is an actual orifice.

Would you rather commit consensual incest (as in, both you and the relative are over 18 and consenting) or bestiality?

Bestiality with a dildo shaped sponge.

Deciduous trees or evergreen trees?

Post by: Art Vandelay on March 21, 2013, 09:27:26 pm
Bestiality with a dildo shaped sponge.
You realise that sponges usually have a calcareous skeleton, right? Lots of tiny little pointy bits all over the sides. Very scratchy.

In any case, I'll go with the evergreen. Mountains of dead leaves are a royal bitch to deal with.

Would you rather kill someone with your own two hands, or allow someone else to kill a busload of people?

I was assuming I could use sand it down and put some kind of really thick rubber condom over it.

As for your question, i'd kill someone with my own two hands, just so I could look into their eyes as they die.

Swords. I'm yet to see a sword nut, even one to go under the delusion of "Obama's taking our swords away!" and at worst, threatening to poison authorities with Ricin-laced letters. And overall, there's almost no love for something that isn't soiled by a decent number of controlling and overprivileged bat fuck crazy enthusiasts.

(Apologies to anyone who is actually pro-gun and aren't against gun-control, background checks and for lasseiz-faire handling of even military-grade firearms.)

And that's the only reason anyone would choose Sephiroth over Kefka.  :P  Sephiroth just sat in his hole and threatened to destroy the world and become a god.  Kefka actually succeeded.  He's also 1000 times funnier.

As for yours, demons, since at least they're honest about wanting to enslave you, whereas angels go the subversive Nice Guy route.

Anti-hero. Heroes don't get stuff done.

Pummel pipe definitely. The ripstick does not seem durable and I don't trust it to be a good at hacking or cutting. That pipe thing on the other hand should bash in a skull or crack some bones nicely.

Chain weapons: Standard flail, or manrikigusari?
Title: Re: This or that?

Flail all the way. Nothing says "I'm gonna fuck your shit up" like a spiky metal ball flying around on the end of a chain.

Since we're on the theme of weapons, the falcata or the kriegsmesser (basically a two-handed falchion)?
Title: Re: This or that?

The Falacata since it looks like a scimitar

Would you rather have Wolverine's claws or regeneration?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Art Vandelay on July 18, 2013, 07:31:33 am
Regeneration. In fact, unless you already have regeneration, Wolverine's claws are a terrible idea, seeing as they rip through the back of your hand every time they're extended. Also, they're just a tad impractical.

Would you rather spend a week in a camp full of social justice warriors, or typical Christian fundies?
Title: Re: This or that?

Social Justice Warriors. They're idiots, but at least they're left wing idiots. I couldn't stand right wing idiots, and they'd likely burn me anyways.

Ironbite-Leathery Bat Wings or Feathery Angel Wings?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Sigmaleph on July 25, 2013, 03:49:18 pm
Leathery bat wings. The demon aesthetics work much better as symbolism for my personal philosophies. Plus, y'know, moulting sounds like it would be terribly annoying.

Which would you rather humanity accomplish first: Dyson spheres or full molecular nanotech?

Ironbite-Radiation or insect-bite as a carrier for super-powers?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Flying Mint Bunny! on July 25, 2013, 05:53:38 pm
Radiation. I don't like insects and it would be a much better world if the only side effects of radiation exposure were super powers.

If it was insect powers though, which would you prefer to get your powers from?

Sledgehammer , Cancer is long and painful and I know what a disease like that can look I went through something similar with my late mom so I'd rather get it over with relatively quickly than dying over the course of several months to years of pain.

Axe or sword?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on July 28, 2013, 04:24:59 pm
Axe. You can use it for more than just killing people and it's cheaper and easier to replace than a sword, while retaining similar or superior killing power.

Spear or sling as a ranged weapon?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Indikins on July 28, 2013, 08:33:40 pm

Would you rather try to survive an actually dangerous alien invasion or a zombie apocalypse?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Sigmaleph on July 28, 2013, 09:58:46 pm
Zombie apocalypse. We're fighting against a species technologically advanced to the point that they can get here and, y'know, invade. Whatever sci-fi might say on the subject, I expect the possibility of winning is insignificant.

Executions: decapitation or firing squad?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: R. U. Sirius on July 28, 2013, 10:56:47 pm
Decapitation. From what I've heard, only one gun in a firing squad is actually loaded, so they can all tell themselves that they didn't do it. I don't trust a single bullet for a quick, clean death.

I'll probably get burned at the stake for this, but I like the remake better. It's more character-driven and does a better job getting you to care about the characters and their fate, rather than just having them basically be living dolls to torture like the bully in "Toy Story".

(Not by the game stats but by simple reasoning. Horrigan is a power armour wearing mutant supersoldier armed with a plasmagun and a huge blade. Lanius is a human in a non-powered armour, with a huge sword. Neither is a pushower but out of the two Horrigan is scarier.)

I'd probably kill the pet. I'm not particularly sentimental about animals, and I couldn't kill a person to eat them. Even assuming the person is already dead, by the time i'm desperate enough to commit cannibalism they would have started to decompose and i'd be too worried about food poisoning to eat them. Unless it was a situation like the film Alive, where the bodies were cold from being in icy conditions. In which case, bring on the cannibalism!

If you had to resort to cannibalism to survive how would you eat the human flesh?

Roast human with apple sauce or human ribs with BBQ sauce?

Yes, provided the person wasn't murdered for the purpose of being consumed. I see nothing wrong with cannibalism in and of itself. I'm also willing to try just about any type of food.

If you were stranded in some remote place and the only food you had was cooked human flesh, or raw, uncooked animal flesh from a freshly killed animal of your preference, which would you choose? You have no means to cook the animal, so you can't choose that as a third option.

Smartish? There should be someone for atheists to talk to, but calling them a chaplain just seems ridiculous to me.

Pasta salad. Although it depends on what's in the salad.

Sectoids or Xenomorph's

Title: Re: This or that?

Sectoids. The Xenomorphs don't have spaceships, plasmaguns and psychic abilities. With them the biggest problem is that some strange regulation demands that every group fighting agaisnt Xenomorphs must have one corporate guy/girl who will backstab everyone during an attempt to capture/control the Xenomorphs.

Would you rather be a werewolf or a vampire?

Regular immortal. I don't mind death from old age and I assume that this type of immortality would mean safety from injuries/diseases. (Why on Earth would I want to age five times faster than normal? )

No. First off, as much as I hate a lot of this world, I wouldn't abandon my paranoid schizophrenic girlfriend to it. Secondly, she'd likely unplug it if I did, because it would be the biggest dick move in the universe if I did.

If the technology existed to upload your consciousness into a perfect robotic body that can look however you want and that perfectly duplicated all of your senses, felt human, and could eat, drink and fuck, would you do it?

What, so I get to be exactly like me, but somehow even more handsome*, much more durable, and able to switch back on or get put back together once switched off or broken? I'm not seeing a downside. Yes.

Fighting Mr. Mxyzptlk (without the name-stating weakness) or Galactus? Note: only weapons and personnel from this universe (i.e. the non-fictional real world) are available.

Galactus. Use all of the former Soviet nukes (including all Tsar bombs) and all of America's. Should work. He can't eat a sun. As for my question before, I know people who wouldn't, because they fear it wouldn't be "them" or losing their humanity (father and girlfriend, respectively). That's why I asked.

Rule the Soviet Union circa 1970 (able to change history) or America circa 1970 (able to change history)?

Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Sixth Monarchist on August 18, 2013, 10:13:46 am
Soviet Union. Whilst the USA has possibilities, the Soviet Union has limitless possibility. The Breznhev Stagnation hasn't truly set in yet, so political reforms, reinstituting the NEP, and reigniting the space race ("one of our comrades, first man to Mars!") should a) extend the lifespan of the Soviet Union at least another twenty years and b) force the West to be a better group of societies. It's no coincidence that democratic socialism, the common good, corporate regulation and accountability and other such ideas have faded since 1990.

I have a theme, so it'll continue.

You wake up one morning to discover you are either a) the Joker (in Heath Ledger/Killing Joke extremist mode) or b) Bolivar Trask (without looking like Peter Dinklage). Which is easier on your conscience?
Title: Re: This or that?
Post by: Askold on August 18, 2013, 10:23:10 am
B. Trask may be misguided but he believes he is protecting humanity from a terrible menace. Besides, unless I'm missing something he never killed anyone and the sentinels were a defensive weapon / deterrent. It was only after the sentinels were taken from his control that anything bad was done with them.

Joker on the other hand is a mass murderer who kills just for laughs.

If you were a superhero would you rather have innate superpowers (like x-men for example) or something that comes from outside source like cadgets/supersuits/etc? (like Iron man, power rangers)

Innate. I'd prefer them to be as difficult to take away as possible.

Raven, no debate about this.

Both may be dangerous in their own way but Quinn is completely psycho, Raven only when possessed by her father. (I doubt I'd survive the night with Quinn either and she'd probably make me pretend I'm "Mister J" or something.)

Depends. If I had a sealed suit of power armour like the SPARTAN-IIs, then I'd pick the flood, because they're fucking dumb. If I was just a marine with shitty body armour and nothing else, then I'd pick the covenant because I'd probably have a better chance of not dying.

Aesthetically, which version of the Master Chief's Mjolnir Mark VI armour do you prefer, the Halo 3 version, or the Halo 4 version?

Just to get a little esoteric:

You, as an ordinary citizen, must live in the Marvel multiverse as either a sapien in the House of M (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_M) universe (Earth-58163), or a non-superpowered individual in Earth-616 during the events of Fear Itself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear_Itself_%28comics%29). Movie (uncut). It stuck to its internal rule of Doctor Manhattan being the only human with superpowers, instead of pulling psychics out of it's ass. Plus, I like to see Alan Moore pissed off.

Depends. If the werewolf lacks control over the transformed form, obviously vampire. If the werewolf can't choose when to transform but is mentally completely in control as a wolfie, werewolf. If the werewolf can choose when to transform and has complete control, werewolf. If the vampire still has a moral compass (unlike Buffyverse vampires usually), however, then I would say vampire for sure, despite all that.

The funny bone thing sounds less dangerous, although I suspect you'd become desensitised to both in due course.

Marvel or DC?

Marvel. It sets its stories (mostly) in real-world locations and is braver about tackling tough issues through allegory. Not perfect, but better than DC's well-deserved reputation for cheap escapism.

Buddhism. No god(s), five common-sense guidelines, and general chillness are big pluses.

Radically different. If we already mostly agree, it won't be nearly as interesting and I'm less likely to learn something new.

You can travel back in time and convince the leading physicists of the world to create a Conspiracy that hides the possibility of nuclear weapons from anyone not a part of the conspiracy, until humanity is judged to be mature enough to handle the knowledge. You know for a fact this would succeed, but it would result in far bloodier wars during the 20th and 21st centuries. Would you do it?

Yes. Overpopulation goes down, as does the threat of nuclear war.

You can travel back in time and kill Hitler and he'll be replaced with a good person, but eugenics never dies, nor does anyone really understand the horrors of genocide. However, Israel doesn't exist, either.

There is none. You have no control over your own actions and are doomed to obey the orders of your cruel and merciless overdudes. Now get in that timemachine and kill Hitler like you were told.

Here is a question:

Would you rather travel to Paris or Venice?

The alias theory makes the story somewhat more believable.

Would you rather wield a sword or a mace?
A big honking Hawkgirl-esque mace, because there's no better way to work out interpersonal issues than bludgeoning people with a large phallic object. Plus, it's probably easier to switch from mace to sword than from sword to mace, because maces are almost certainly heavier (although it depends on the type of sword).

Batman: The Animated Series or Batman Beyond?

The Animated Series. I love Beyond, I love the Bruce and Terry dynamic. I love the focus on Terry's life and him doing things different. I love the soundtrack. I love the new villains. But, TAS started it all, and made some of the best television, ever.
