You know what they say about a stopped clock being right twice a day?

Well, even Lone Nut Comics makes a good point now and again.  Aside from the sexist joke in the last panel, this does a good job of pointing out the domestic violence double standard.

Too bad it's a ridiculous strawman.

It's a political cartoon, of course they use ridiculous strawmen.

It would be making something of a good point if it had a dozen panels before it of the poodle beating the crap out of the Generic Male Dog, verbally abusing him, controlling him, and the GMD being too embarrassed or scared to do anything about it because he's afraid police won't take him seriously. Because that often IS how domestic abuse against men goes--they don;t report it out of fear of being ridiculed or not believed, or both.

Yes, it is.  It's an atrocious double standard, and one of the reasons I sympathize with progressive masculists (not MRAs, though, because thanks to some on this site, I've learned that they're the masculist equivalent of radfems).

I honestly have no idea how common it is for, say, a man to call the cops on his female partner for domestic violence and then the man get carted away for it because she broke her hand punching him in the face or something like that--I'm sure it DOES happen, and I think there are a few places where by default the man gets taken to the station when domestic violence complaints come through, but I seriously doubt it happens very much.

Actually, it happens more often than you think.  I've read that in many states, police procedure is to arrest the one who seems to be more of a threat, which is usually the man.

Comedian Chris Titus has a routine about it in his 'Norman Rockwell is Bleeding' special, but that's not exactly a reliable source. I'd be interested to read the documentation about this, as well.

I'll try to find something.

That seems likely, given that the duo behind this are a pair of misogynistic pricks.  But that doesn't mean they don't have a point.
