Title: I tried to write a book
Post by: The Illusive Man on March 24, 2014, 09:57:59 pm
In an attempt to sublimate my frothing-at-the-mouth hatred of Linux I started to write a book. I figured that if Glen Beck could get a book published I could do much better. Having read The Unix Hater’s Handbook (http://web.mit.edu/~simsong/www/ugh.pdf) I figured that I could create something similar with a initially lower barrier of understanding. The first half of the book would not require a given reader to be thoroughly versed with nix operating systems. My template plan was thus:

Foreword
Preface
Meet the Linux Community!
 Distro
  Incident
   Who caused it and why?
   Who supported it and why?
Who did nothing to prevent and why?

 Distro
  Incident
   Who caused it and why?
   Who supported it and why?
Who did nothing to prevent and why?
 ect

Technical Flaws
   The Unix Wars: a prologue
   History repeats
         Fragmentation
          Unstable Kernel
          Unstable ABI
     Unstable API

I stopped writing because: it was not funny, publishers deemed it too much of a risk because of faces and dox, self publishing was not worth it. Samples are spoilered below:
