I'm not sure they'll make that same mistake again.
I may have told this story before. If so, sorry...
The DC Metro allows companies to purchase advertising "themes," which allows the companies to put images on station walls, buses, and the pylons in stations. Bethesda had their Fallout 3 theme put up the week of the game's release, with multiple images from the game. All pictures were clearly marked with "Fallout 3" and Bethesda Studios.
Not long after, there was a letter to the editor in the Washington Post from someone complaining about the theme because "we had a terrorist attack here not long ago and people walking through Metro should not be forced to look at images of a bombed out DC." I don't remember if the author claimed the images were from terrorist attacks on DC or not. I think the author knew Fallout 3 is a game, but was just upset the images were all over the DC area.
