Boston bomber "too hot" to be guilty?!

The fuck?

Quote
This love is terrifying.

Thousands of American teen girls are crushing on Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar “Jahar” Tsarnaev, 19 — and leading a social-media movement to exonerate him.

The swooning teens will not accept allegations that the bushy-haired college kid — whom they refer to by his nickname, “Jahar” — and his brother, Tamerlan, 26, killed three and maimed hundreds by setting off bombs at the April 15 race and killed an MIT police officer during the ensuing manhunt.

Quote
“@FreeJahar97,” who identified herself on Twitter as “Gianna,” a 16-year-old with “big boobs,” likened Tsarnaev to a heartthrob.

“Yes i like Justin Bieber and i like Jahar but that has nothing to do with why i support him. I know hes innocent, he is far too beautiful,” she tweeted on April 25.

Quote
A Facebook group, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Free Jahar Movement, has more than 6,000 followers. A post on its page asks whether the brothers were “actors” who believed they were taking part in an emergency drill at the marathon.

Quote
Dzhokhar has inspired anonymous authors to pen steamy online fan fiction, as well.

On Wattpad, “Stringcheesekitteh” wrote the three-part story “Tsarnaev,” set in the prison medical facility where Dzhokhar is being held. In the tale, a young resident psychiatrist finds herself mesmerized by his eyes — and flirting with danger.

The author wrote that the story was not meant to “offend anyone” and did not express “strong sentiments for or against the suspect.”

Anonymous works on Pastebin.com include fantasy sex and romance scenes with the terrorist.

One scribe imagined Tsarnaev having one last moment of intimacy before getting arrested.

“He kissed your neck, sucking on it to leave his mark, biting down on it every now and then,” reads one scene set just before his arrest.

The fictional Tsarnaev responds, “Cmon, baby give me something to think about in jail.”

Another tale imagines the day he is set free.

“ ‘I missed you like hell. I was a mess without you, don’t ever leave me please,’ I said as I bought [sic] my fingers up to his ear, running them through his curls.”

Quote
On Instagram, “Izzyperez007,” posted a collage of Dzhokhar. “Love you Jahar and support you!!” the user gushed.

When commenters called her “crazy” and “obsessed,” she wrote, “I am going to make shorts that say #FreeJahar on my butt,” she wrote in comments.

Quote
Tumblr blogs are springing up, too. Justice for Jahar is decorated like a teenybopper mag, with a collage of his pics with the words “luv u,” “perf,” and “fab” in pastel pink embellishing it.

Quote
One Twitter user “@freejaharlove” on Friday tweeted, “#FBI please put me inside prison with Jahar I cannot tolerate you lies anymore.” The tweeter also waxed poetic, writing, “I am only the dust on my Lover’s (Jahar) path and from dust I will rise and turn into a flower.”

I'm just going to be over here.  In the corner.  In the fetal position.

It's rather telling that so many people of this generation seem to believe that "Pretty people can't do bad things" with the implication that "only ugly people do bad things"
Mockery of ideas you don't comprehend or understand is the surest mark of unintelligence.

I'm not debating that.  It's the SPECIFIC defense of him being "too hot to kill" that made me shake my head.

The belief that beautiful people can't be bad is hardly new. There are records of at least one court case in ancient Rome being decided by the woman stripping for the jury, to show that she was beautiful, and therefore morally pure.

If you look at it logically, cannibalism has great potential to simultaneously solve our overpopulation and food shortage problems.

This doesn't really surprise me. Even the Columbine killers have groupies to this day. The Eric Harris discussion board on IMDb is utterly dominated by them.

Although that at least made sense because the girls who admired them believed the common misconception that Harris and Klebold were victims of extreme bullying who struck back against their tormenters. I don't understand the appeal of James Holmes and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

And how do they feel about his brother? Is he some asshole who brainwashed Jahar? Framed him? Apparently they haven't taken five seconds to think about the absurdity of this.
Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

I take it with a grain of salt due to the source. The NY Post is basically the Daily Fail of US Newspapers. That said, I'm not surprised that Tsarnaev would have groupies. After all, if someone like Charles Manson could pull it off, what stretch is there for others?

Good gravy! This is too stupid!

"Too beautiful to be evil" is THE STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD!

Plenty of attractive-looking people are nasty people! What's with these bimbos?!

Look, I confess I, too,  find Jahar physically stupefyingly cute (like Syd Barrett, Louis Garrel & Disney's Aladdin smushed into one person)......BUT..... I'M NOT GONNA "CRUSH" OVER HIM! THAT IS WROOOOONNNG!

Whenever I start thinking "That little slime is cute for a sociopathic wackjob", I'll just picture the photos of Jeff Bauman with his blown-off leg-stumps or little Martin Richard in school with his handmade poster, "No more hurting. Peace."

Jeff has no legs & Martin's deceased....I don't care how cute Jahar looks, he did that to those guys.

I don't mind "Draco In Leather Pants"...provided the baddie is pure fiction. But squeeing over real-life monsters is many levels of wrong!

Despite showering a few hours ago....I now need another one!

Like R. U. Sirius pointed out, this is not really a modern thing. Part of human nature is that if we judge something to be good in one aspect, we are more likely to assume it to be good on other, unrelated aspects. Attractiveness is a textbook example, in fact.

Of course, explicitly saying that you think someone is innocent because they are cute takes the halo effect further than the usual biased human. It takes a fair bit of... something to take the subconscious effect, raise it to declarative awareness, and still not see anything wrong with your reasoning.
