Barring the gun that was actually there and killed those children, of course. 

When Gabrielle Giffords was shot, weren't there citizens present that actually had guns on them, and that them being armed did nothing to stop the shooting, and in fact nearly made things worse (people were confused and nearly shot people they weren't supposed to)?  Because that's what I think of whenever I hear the "guns would've prevented this" argument.

I'd kinda like a politic cartoon where it shows a mess of people pointing guns at each other (in chaotic ways) and a couple are actually pointing guns at you, while "you" are also holding a gun.

We no longer need satire, because the real world is more cruel and more insensitive than satire could ever be. This whole thing screams "somebody took the Onion seriously", but it's really happening. People are comemorating the one-year anniversary of the deaths of twentya schoolchildren and six adults at the hands of a crazed gunman with a huge brouhaha about how guns save lives and "could have prevented this tragedy".

I try to keep a positive outlook, but then shit like this has the audacity to exist.
