Every year since a couple years before I was born, my dad's side of the family has rented a cabin for one weekend every winter as a sort of family retreat. Seeing as my family's grown a bit since then, and many of us are now adults, there has been some discussion as to when myself, my brother and step siblings, and our cousins, will need to start paying for ourselves. So far, it seems like our parents are content to pay for us and, while I'm perfectly content with this (who doesn't like not paying for things?), I want to start doing something to help out with this affair, since it takes a lot of planning and coordination between everybody. So, I've gotten the aforementioned cousins and siblings to agree to take care of the traditional big meal that's usually relegated to one family, including purchase, prep, and serving. As of right now, everyone's on board, we've agreed on what to make (pizza from scratch), and we don't need too much help from our folks. Feels great to take the initiative and finally give back with something like this.
