This is why I'm not completely anti-Capitalism, simply because I have a shitload of material processions (a few I actually want to get rid of) and it would... simply make me a bare-faced hypocrite. However, the whole "hypocrite" thing at least
tried to keep the Occupy movement non-violent as possible, often in failure because policemen considered unarmed though pissed youth (and other crowds of usually alienated people) a threat (and not Tea-partiers with possibly loaded rifles!).
I, however, am still not impressed by consumerism, the mindless consumption of material items all solely for one's self and never to anyone else too. The lifestyle of Veruca Salt, practically, aside her song in the 1971 film, is what I think of those people who feel that sort of "need."
