I grew up in a town of Baptists.  The "good" kind.  "Catholics worship the Virgin Mary"  "Heavy metal will make you worship Satan" "Dungeons and Dragons is the gateway game to Satanism" "AIDS is God's revenge on homoes!" "I'm having a terrible day.  God must be testing me!"

I have never encountered a bigger bunch of gossips and judges.  I hadn't identified exactly what it was until about nine years ago, so I spent  a goodly ten years without an explanation as to why being a True ChristianTM was such a turn off.
And when we're done soul searching,
And we carry the weight and die for a cause.
Is misery made beautiful
Right before our eyes.

Mercy be revealed, or blind us where we stand?

The whole reason I'm agnostic is I can't see one religion being more or less real than another.

That's more or less where I'm at, though I grew up in a non-religious family.

Anyway, I have yet to see any concrete evidence for the existence of an afterlife/spirit world.  And as far as gods are concerned, I don't think they are any more real than fairies, goblins, leprechauns, or [name a mythical creature of your choice].
