Title: Furry Thread (clean)
Post by: Smilodon on January 09, 2012, 09:15:50 pm
For those of you unfamiliar with what I'm talking about read this (http://www.furryfandom.info/index.htm) and this (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FurryFandom). Does anyone here identify as a furry or enjoy various parts of the furry fandom? This is the place to talk about it. Keep in mind that this is a clean thread, don't do stuff like posting erotica or anything like that, mkay?

I like "furry" things like the one on that first link, but I honestly can't stand the anime-esque erotica crap that people churn out of their favorite fox or cat or something.

I like that first picture though.

Out of curiosity (and I hope no one will take this question the wrong way; no judgment or negative implications intended): What is it about furry culture that appeals to you guys? I find furdom rather interesting, from a sociological perspective.

I probably wouldn't identify as "furry", but for me the attraction is to anthropomorphize animals even more than we usually do.

I just like animals who can be 'human-ified'.

Ever since I was young I liked furry characters. I'm not sure how it came about (maybe due to the Animaniacs and all those Disney movies that my family watched). I just have an interest in them.

Dragon Scalie here.

I think part of it is that it gives me a way to identify myself on a level other than "blonde-haired fat kid with glasses who has severe self-esteem issues".

That and animaloids can bring a lot more variety to characters.  It makes us feel less generic (actual generic characters aside)

I think the real answer is a bit complex... maybe too complex to put into words?

I don't generally identify as furry, but I like furry art (the clean stuff and the dirty stuff, as long as it's well drawn). I draw furry art and (try to) write fiction involving furry-ish characters.

I have a fursona (two, actually, a twin brother and sister) that I came up with so I'd have characters to do art trades with.

An old pic of my fursonas, Tsaenoa and Daome:

My fursona. (http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs10/i/2006/130/3/4/It__s_that_time_of_year_again___by_Ongaru.png)  This is an old picture.  The newest one is...not good for this thread, methinks. >.>

Like a cat, I love to be pampered by that special someone, I move quietly, and I am easily distracted by shiny objects. Mew! :3

I don't really have a set fursona. Too many good species to choose from.

I'm a furry.  I have rather little art of myself, only a few gift images and a ref sheet, so I suppose I will post an extra heretical picture of a raccoonissar.

And here is my FA, feel free to click, you won;t be able to see anything NSFW unless you have an account.  http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tiberiusthyben/

Also.  If we are having a Furry thread, we need drama.  I will start.

All dragons are terrible people who desperately crave being in charge.

There's a way you can make a thread to post said picture in.

<snip picture>

This is a bit off topic, but nice chainsword and bolter.
