B: UST can work, and can even lend a bit of comedy to the work. Good choice.
As for your earlier post, "Distastefully formal" is basically... you're trying to be too strict in your writing. Your dialogue is so stiff to the point that you're writing more how you think they should sound, rather than how they actually sound. Writers for Pinkie are a good example of this, as well as Dash.
"Talking at the reader"... have you ever heard of the "Show, don't tell" rule? sounds like you were doing a lot of telling the potential reader "they did this, and this, and this" rather than showing us in the story. It's a common pitfall.
