That example is pretty obvious, because Iraq would have used its WMD. Why not?

The party's name is the Democratic Party. It has been since 1830. Please spell correctly.

Lt. Fred said;
The racism of a colonial power isn't the problem, it's a symptom. The problem is one country running another without permission and usually without meaningful participation. That is inherently a problem. The other problem is that no country ever uses force except in its own interests. Only very occasionally do those interests align with what should be done, in Bangladesh, for instance, and Cambodia.

So if you go invade someone else's country even with stated humanitarian motives, nine times out of ten your real motives will lead to the opposite effect.

I must clear something up. I by no means meant "Military Invasion". I do not support the invasions in Iraq or elsewhere. I meant humanitarian relief, education, charity. Peaceful solutions that get to the root of the problem. I'm sick of war! Just go there to address their social & humanitarian issues....belief systems and attitudes that hinder progress. Give a bit of aid but help them to build themselves up....But without disregarding their culture.

I love that video. So much. I absolutely love the ice cream machine allegory of this video.

I think I've shared the same video a while ago.

I've seen it before too and it is pretty good.

However the Matrix was a good movie (the sequels were a bit shit) but goddamn I used to love to get high and watch the matrix one of only 3 movies that Keanau didn't destroy with his terrible acting. The other two being Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure where he basically didn't have to act and the other being 'The Devil's Advocate'  because Al Pacino was so good he just absorbed all the bad acting emitted by Keanau.

From what I remember from the author:

"The Matrix is a fun movie, just not one to base a philosophy on" or something like that.

As I said I would get high and watch it. I would agree its hardly a philosophical movie. I expect that the makers of the matrix did not suspect that people would go from 'reality is an illusion' in a Cartesian kind of way and morph that into "the red pill is a metaphor for the way that bitches ruin my life by being bitches who don't fuck me but fuck all these arseholes, which makes women bitches which means I should be an arsehole to get bitches" philosophy.

Anyway when it came out the combination of the special effects (which were brand new then and now are in everything), a really nice joint, some beer and some potato chips made for many a pleasant day when I should have been in class at uni.

I am convinced that the Matrix was made specifically in order to discredit post-modern theory and in particular the offensively stupid theorist Jean Baudrillard by associating it and him with a big dumb action flick. I am not convinced that a large part of post-modern theory's collapsing support within academia in the post-Matrix period cannot be assigned to the Wachowski duo.

And I thank them, profusely. They have done yeoman's work.

Actually, Israel has a lot of leftists. Their first prime minister was an outright Socialist. Israel also has a single-payer healthcare system and a lot of communes. Many have called the kibbutz movement the most successful example of socialism to date.
