“This is everywhere. I mean, this is not an ‘Eagle Ridge outbreak,’” said Buynder. “Next week it will be Boston Bar or Chilliwack or whatever. We're just going to have a bad year with norovirus this year, because of the new strain.”
And then cue the anti-vaxxers (order the comments from first to last, these will be at the top):
Every year its the same storie a new strain so why do people get the shot
The shot is just a way to nationalize strains that would have died off on local levels.

Aah, yes. It couldn't possibly be because, ya know, fucking science. Or doctors over-prescribing antibiotics, patients not completing antibiotic regimens, or just plain science.
-
That's more for stronger bacteria being developed, as far as the use of antibiotics. Virii sort of just change their code over time to become new or modified versions of an older piece of bad code.

Also, why are those fucking airheads allowed to comment on anything?

... Norovirus is A: A virus, so anti-boitics would have negligible effect on them and B: Norovirus isn't vaccinated against.
Norovirus is a food borne illness that can pass person to person once ingested. You can prevent it by being cautious about food safety. If you're worried about it, look up your food safety and follow it religiously. In fact, normal norovirus accounts for the largest percent of foodborne illness. However it is much less dangerous than Salmonella, e. coli and most other foodborne illnesses. I just learned about this stuff during last semester, so these anti-vaxxers are so far off that they need to be slapped. Lots.
Also, surprised the 'raw' foodies aren't out.

I know a vaccine is in development for Norovirus, but isn't it generally not severe enough to really warrant being vaccinated against it?
I'm no anti-vaxxer, but I'm not 100% convinced it is necessary to have a vaccine for this (as opposed to more severe diseases which can cause permanent injury or death).

Norovirus is hilariously widespread though. It can cripple someone's ability to function for a day or two at least and complications can lead to death. It has the fifth leading cause of food borne hospitalizations and fifth for deaths, since it is the most common food borne illness so even despite it's less severe than others, it can still manage a showing on the top five.
