The message is horrible, bigoted & demeaning but the photo ON IT'S OWN is utterly adorable! I hate it when cute pics are used for disgusting messages.

The least they could do was use a real team mascot, like the fighting Irish, instead of making something up. If you have to create an imaginary counter example, it kinda negates your argument.

The Redskins could easily be renamed the Potomacs and use an accurate, dignified mascot depiction of a Patawomek warrior. Potomac is the Anglicized spelling and pronunciation of Patawomek.

The younger man on the right in this picture of Patawomeck tribe members wearing early historic dress would make a great model for a new mascot. That would look way more "kick ass" than the dated, Hollywood cartoon-looking Redskins mascot.



The Potomac River is famous and very much associated with DC, and it would fit thematically with the name of the baseball team, the Nationals, and the hockey team, the Capitals.

I agree with this.

Someone should submit a formal petition to the place to change the name from "Redskins" to "Potomacs".

Goes from racist caricature to celebration of the culture that way.  I think.  I'm not a Potomac so I don't have the final say on that.
