The pic also assumes that all employees work 365 days a year...

I'm sure some employers would have them do that if they could...

Only if they could pay them even less to shore up the costs.

I'm sure some employers would have them do that for free.
Fixed that for you.
Despite knowing about indoctrination I thought it was a good idea to put a human Reaper near my office. Now I am a sentient husk :(.

Aren't most of those 2000000 employees forced to work less than 30 hours a week so Walmart can avoid paying benefits?

The second top comment for this mentions that #3 is incorrect on the math and cue an argument about the validity of the entire pic.

Yep.  The person who made the pic can't even do simple addition, how the hell can the rest of that shit be trusted?  Don't even get me started on the lack of citation.

Some employers would probably try to find a way to have employees pay them.

And I was just told that, despite police warnings to stay off the roads in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, employers are still pressuring employees to come in for work.  Roads are so bad that my mom isn't being allowed to go home from work, yet some employers are insisting employees still drive to work.

Lemme guess, Walmart's one of the bastards telling their employees work's still on, even if its dangerous to travel, right?

They just said "some employers."

Does anyone actually have the proper math on what it would cost walmart to pay 2 million employees 15 dollars an hour?

MLK hated both parties but he would have endorsed Kennedy if given the chance

It amuses me that these sorts of people would ordinarily call MLK Jr a communist or an immoral person.

What gets me is the end : "it would cause wallmart to fail, whaawhaaa!"
So fucking what? If a business can't afford to pay its employees, then it has a bad business model, and it should fail! Isn't that one of the points of being a libertarian? Letting businesses fail when they should fail?

I did some quick math because this one was bothering me.

2 million employees x 6.19 dollars an hour x 30 hours a week to avoid paying benefits x 52 weeks a year = 19,312,800,000

Walmart would still need to change its business model to stay a float. Poor them, no more exploiting third world sweatshop labor to artificially drive down prices and eliminate competitors who would pay their employees a decent wage. It's Communism, I tell you!

Given that Wal-Mart has a sizable presence in other countries, they would have to increase the wages for far less than two million workers.  Hell, they have locations in countries with higher minimum wages, and yet they still find a way to make money.
