They left off one of the most important labels!  That stripe of Democratic Counties across the South is known as the Black Belt.  It's where all of the Black people live.  How could they not have labeled that?

And that's the real vote by county map, Ironbite.

Right.  McCain won the counties with more livestock than people.

My shame? Look at Oklahoma state.

Not one. Blue. County.

Only Alaska matched us for red and their excuse is Palin.

...Wait, how come Wisconsin was mostly blue, and yet we still kept Scott Fucker in office?

Do the people who voted for Obama really seem to think Scott is such a great man, or that the recall was somehow cheating or something?

Very different people turned out.  The electorate who showed up in 2008 was much, much younger than the one that has showed up since.  That's also why the Dems were so successful in 2008 and the GOP was so successful in 2010.  Plus, higher turnout tends to favor Democrats, and Walker was elected and survived recall in years where there wasn't a Presidential race on the ballot (which massively increases turnout).

Though, actually, Obama exit polls from the recall election that Walker won 54-46 shows that the very same group of voters would have favored Obama 51-48 over Romney.  Obama should win in November by a much larger margin than that.

…or that the recall was somehow cheating or something?

I really hate that attitude. Everyone wants more accountability but suddenly expecting to use the tools that grant it is unfair?

Outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin can be pretty nutty, especially in some of the wealthy suburbs like Brookfield.  I was just in Wisconsin the weekend before July 4, and from Milwaukee to Green Bay, I'd say 1/2 to 1/3 of the billboards were: Obama is a nazi/socialist, anti-abortion, anti-any religion other than Evangelical Christianity, anti-immigrant, etc.  Conservative groups threw a ton of money around up there.  I probably saw less religious/subtle racism billboards when I was in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia in 2010 combined.

Another reason might be that the guy running to unseat Walker lost to him in 2010.

Wait...Grant county (in AR, below Pulaski in the middle) was BLUE?!  What in the fuck?  I always thought this was one of the most ass-backwards places in the entire state...

No, that's Jefferson County that's Blue, McCain won Grant County about 74-23.
