Japanese company Suidobashi Heavy Industry has accepted the challenge from US rival MegaBots Inc. to a giant robot duel, with Suidobashi founder Kogoro Kurata saying: "Yeah, I'll fight. Absolutely." Kurata, who designed and built Suidobashi's 4-ton mech robot, said: "We can't let another country win this. Giant robots are Japanese culture."

The world has officially gotten, like, 500% more awesome.  WE WILL SOON HAVE COMPETITIVE GIANT ROBOT DUELING LEAGUES.  Almost sounds like Phantom Crash.

All of my yeses. I know we had the BattleBots here in the States, but I would love more robot combat leagues in the world just so long as they don't end up like G-Gundam where they wreck the world while the rest of humanity watches from space colonies.

Whenever I'm feeling down, when I feel useless or that the world sucks, I can now just remember that giant robot fights are soon to be a real thing.

They aren't really giant robots, though. We don't have strong enough materials for that and the ground would start crumbling underneath them if we did.

Define the word "giant."

Because those certainly look like giants to me as those are much bigger than average robots.

Also, if you are going to start bitching about the pilots being inside them (which may change if they go for melee combat like the Japanese are demanding) a) Giant fighting/combat robots usually have a pilot inside them whether they are called mech or mecha or whatever. b) Japanese industry uses a different definition for "robot" than most other countries and it includes things that Europeans don't consider as "real" robots.

This is how it starts. We're teaching them to fight, we're starting to figure out AI. Seems like that's trouble brewing. That said, I totally want to see the robot fight!

Just program 'em to be like Goku and always want a good fight.  They'll be to preoccupied with it to consider revolting.
