We lost Alan Rickman
« on: January 14, 2016, 09:10:19 am »
Having some trouble linking articles on my phone but I just heard about it.

Sad, but now I'm forced to start spamming gifs of him falling out of the window in Die hard because otherwise the net will be filled with Snape related farewell memes to Rickman.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

So sad. I loved him, no matter the role.  :'(
Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

While I remember his role as Snape, there's so many other characters I thought were even better:

He was practically the only thing I remember about that Robin Hood movie with that stuffed shirt everyone tried to call the new Marlon Brando.  Who was that blond guy again?

Die Hard, most awesome villain.

The only reason I remember that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy remake was because he was a most awesome Marvin.

Galaxy Quest, yes, it was a slab of cheddar, but the movie wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable if it weren't for him.

So, yeah, I'm sad to hear we've lost such a talented actor, and this is from someone who generally hates movies.

Die hard was his first film.

...He started his film career by creating one of the most memorable villains in history of films.

Yeah, and it's no less impressive that he started his Hollywood career at middle age as well.

(EDIT: Had to add the word Hollywood because he had plenty of experience on stage before his first major role)

My favorite role of his was the Metatron.

Fun fact: During that scene, the director told Rickman that the crew was going to drop in on the count of three. They actually dropped him on two. The reaction they filmed was actual, genuine shock.

Of course, Rickman was really pissed off afterward, but you can't deny it worked.

I just watched Galaxy Quest the other night.
