I know elsewhere on the forums I mentioned it but it was mostly conjecture. Now we have absolute proof.

Fox will say goodbye to Dr. House at the end of this season.

The network has opted not to order a ninth season of the Hugh Laurie starrer from NBCUniversal's Universal TV unit.

I'm almost a little sad about it.  Hugh Laurie's entertaining even when he ISN'T being a dick... but yeah, House is no E.R.

Aw... I'm actually sad at this and for some reason I thought it had only been 5 seasons. It was a good show and now I won't have anything to watch. :(

I pretty much figured it was over when Cuddy left after finally hooking up with House.

Ironbite-that was pretty much a death knell for the show.

I stopped watching after that awful season finale where Wilson's girlfriend was killed in a bus accident.

IMO, it needed put out of its misery.

Hugh Laurie has stated a few times that this was going to be his last season of "House." Some actors settle into a single character and are fine and happy for decades, while other actors get the yen to try new things. Laurie has pretty much come right out and said that after 8 seasons of "House," money is no longer even remotely an issue for him and he would like to have time to try riskier stuff. Look for him on Broadway and in some indie films in the coming years. There is already some talk about casting him as Mr. Applegate in the revival of "Damn Yankees."

I'm sad to see it go, it was one of my absolute favorite TV shows.  But, yeah, I agree with other people here, I've known for a few seasons that it wouldn't last much longer.  I knew about two seasons in, that it wouldn't last too terribly long.  But this gives Laurie time to work on his music, which it seems has been what's been on his mind lately anyway.

While I never once actually watched the show, any show where the main character makes a reference to Arceus being his god of choice will be missed.
