I sympathize completely. However, to use against us. Let me ask you a troll. On the one who pulled it. But here's the question: where do I think it might as well have stepped out of all people would cling to a layman.

Of course, knowing the history behind the photo the picture is based on gives it almost completely the opposite meaning.

To me that connotation is actually spot on, in a good way. The Victory in Europe Day celebratory kiss photo happened 68 years ago, but it is so iconic a symbol of success after great struggle that I like it's use in this cartoon. Sure, the posture and act were sexist by today's standard, but in the day, that was the Hollywood Movie Romance kiss, and the actual man and woman were strangers to each other just goofing it up out of excitement and happiness. Here's a re-enactment, with the two original kissers reunited, sharing a more subdued display of affection.

Funny, for some reason I had heard a story that she was being sexually harassed and didn't want to be kissed.

George Mendonsa and Greta Zimmer Friedman claim to be the kisser and kissee in question, although the photographer never asked the names of the man and woman in his photograph. George says he was very drunk and has no memory of it. Greta says she was caught totally by surprise, and was held by "a very strong man" so you definitely have your talking point about harassment. I saw her in an interview broadcast some years ago about the incident, and in that TV program, IIRC, she said she was shocked but not especially outraged or frightened by the grab and kiss, describing it as a part of the crowd uproar and excitement that day (Victory in Japan Day, to correct my last post).

Ahh, yeah. Not gonna say what it is or isn't but it's definitely iconic.

And yeah, V-J Day. V-E day was earlier.

Since this is a really famous bit of history, and there are important, serious questions raised by the background story (such as it inadequately is), I kept researching, and came across the transcript of a Library of Congress history project interview with Greta Friedman;

Was that the counter-protest from the time Westboro decided to protest ComiCon?

No, that was MUCH larger.
