The consensus seems to be that he is gay (I also noticed the Asian person in the skirt next to him seems to be a man) so maybe fundies thought the little gay boy in the pink hair was asking for it being so effeminate. Just speculation.

Sadly, I've heard that excuse. I've also heard "you should have 'man' up, so you deserved it for being a sissy" as well as "grow some balls" when trying to deal with the trauma of rape. Victim blaming is nasty piece of work.

Apparently, I've had a Bridget dropped on me there (not that I'm complaining *nods at his sig*).  I agree with Eniliad, though.  I thought "she" was cute as hell initially, but I was also saddened because of the sign, and now that I know he's not a she, I still want to hug him for what he'd been through. :(
