Not only that, but pregnancy itself is expensive, particularly if one lacks any sort of health coverage. Carrying a child to term without prenatal checkups, a midterm ultrasound, prenatal vitamins, proper assistance during the delivery, and so on is risky as hell, and none of those things are cheap. Granted, sometimes adoptive couples will cover the expenses, but that isn't a guarantee.
Then there's the matter of all the emotional tolls of an unexpected/unwanted pregnancy -- dealing with the changes to your body, the judgment you receive from others, the influence of hormones on your mental health, fear of childbirth, plus a million other psychological effects that one might not be capable of handling.
I really don't see how any of these things belittle the other reasons for keeping abortion illegal. They're all valid points that need to be laid out during abortion debates. To paraphrase the sign, this stuff may seem inconsequential until you're the one dealing with it.
