This one just brings tears to my eyes, it is so spot on.

Single women and mothers are about the most dumped on segment of the population. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Way to go, fundies, kick 'em when they're down and don't stop kicking 'em, ever, cause jeezuz and holey fuckedup babble. Cheaper to bitch about it than actually do something pro-active like sponsor free contraceptives or offer meaningful prenatal care and adoption programs, or job training and neonatal support...cuz government will do that, and then the fundies still have their bitching points on taxes.

Yup. Fundies complain about birth control, they complain about abortion, and if she opts to have the kid, they complain about having to help support it. Because it's not about babies. It's really about punishing women for daring to have sex.

Well if I may offer a devil's advocate statement.

<deviladvocate>

"She could try to marry someone with a decent pay. Is that not an option that's on the table?"

</deviladvocate>

I know there is some counter argument to that.

And then, when she does marry someone with a good, steady source of income...

You know, because of the cultural impact of the phrase "Catch 22," I kinda want to read the book of the same name.  Of course, you COULD argue that those who are saying stupid shit should just be ignored as much as possible.
My friend's blog.  Check it out!

And not the men, since men having sex is natural, and women are instinctively awesome mothers who always love babies and don't need any money to raise them cuz family values.

I'm pretty sure most anti-choicers want to force men to take care of unwanted children as well.
I'd be more sympathetic if people here didn't act like they knew what they were saying when they were saying something very much wrong.

I've never heard that from the more crazy ones. In my experience, the more moderate the pro-lifer is the more responsibility they put on the father.

@Shepard: so the ideal trans person is Ash Ketchum?
@thejebusfire: perfectly illustrates why I don't take pro-life activists seriously anymore.

Only by looks, I suppose.

That's quite a propaganda success: someone willing not only to endure exploitation but brag about it.

1. If it's true he's a former Marine, then he could get healthcare through the VA.
2. It said he hasn't had 4 consecutive days off, so he may have had a day off here and there, but not four days in a row.

That's quite a propaganda success: someone willing not only to endure exploitation but brag about it.
That's because here in America, we're special kind of stupid.

The book is hilarious.  For someone who has never been involved with the military, because it is so absurd.  For someone who has, because it is so accurate.  Both are, of course, right.

Catch 22 meant that you could get out of a deployment if you're insane, but you have to actually apply for it before you can leave.  Applying for it is an act of sanity (self-preservation), so it automatically disqualifies you.

So... Is that a parody or not?
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!
