Gents and ladies: Reb Yid here. I'm a Canuck, a leftist, a quasi-religious Jew, a progressive Zionist, and a history buff. I can't stand extremism in any form. They're all equally repulsive, but some are pretty funny.

I'm pretty much here to point and laugh at whatever crazies we come across on this great Internet of ours.

And please don't give me any flak about my belief in G-d or my support for Israel. I respect your beliefs, so do respect mine.

Welcome! :)

Hello, everyone.

I've been lurking this site and its forums for a while. I decided that if I want to hang around here, then why shouldn't I join?

I'm pretty much the black sheep in my family. I am a liberal/progressive/green/social-democrat in a family of hot-blooded conservatives (back in 2000 when there was the election between Al Gore and George W. Bush, when my mother voted for Al Gore, my family treated her like she was from another planet!). I am also a Christian turned Agnostic turned Atheist (I am, however, still in the closet, as I sometimes get flak for being so different. Good thing my family loves me unconditionally). I share an extreme disdain for religious/political/economic fundamentalists/fanatics, and because of that, I'm so happy to see there is a site that snark on some of the craziest quotes from these awful, just plain pathetic people from all over the internet.

I also share a love for lesser known video games.

Konnichiwa, Alex!  You'll find quite a few liberal ex-Christians on this board, along with a pleasant mix of Christians and lifelong atheists.  We welcome all kinds here. :)

Interesting, a transwoman on this forum.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your stay.

There's more than one.  Eats Babies, welcome, and might I recommend checking out the LGBT Thread at some point?  :)

I'm new to the forum, but I mostly post comments on fundie quotes from the site. As of writing, I haven't modified my profile because I'm not sure if I'll stay on this part of the site.

Anyway, I'm another Christian member who hates fundamentalists with the rest of them. I also spend some time bashing racists and conspiracy theorists (especially the latter, since they're usually funnier and the former is always incredibly mean.) And other than that, I might stay to discuss stuff with people.

Howdy howdy howdy everybody.  I'm Mech610, feel free to just call me Mech, though I also go by the nickname Dire or my real name which is Noah.

Let's see, where to begin?  Well, I've been a member and commenter on the main site for probably about 5 years now but I've been a lurker for at least 2 or 3 years longer then that.  Today I decided I should probably join and start posting in the forums, so here I am!

Now, about me.  I'm 23 years old currently pursuing my undergrad degree in fiction writing at Columbia College of Chicago ((Any other Columbians around feel free to PM me!)), afterwards I plan to get certified as a teacher or join the Peace Corps for 2 years before going to grad school to pursue a doctorate in Mythology and/or History and I hope to become a professor on one or both of those subjects.  I'm a huge history and mythology nerd you see.

Politically I'm very far left and I label myself a Democratic Socialist.  I'm not an Atheist like so many of my fellows here.  I'm a Pantheist which is the belief that the universe is a living thing that is unaware of our existence.  From what I understand Carl Sagan held a similar belief, essentially it's applying a spiritual aspect to science.  I was raised Jewish however.

I'm an Otaku, I play Japanese RPGs regularly, watch anime, read manga, attend cons ((Where I like to collect swag)).  I'm a big gamer and sci-fi/fantasy nerd.  I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Elder Scrolls universe ((I've played every main series game since Arena)).  I'm a big Joss Whedon fan.  I enjoy watching Law and Order and NCIS pn occasion.  My favorite TV show ever is the remade Battlestar Galactica.  I got into the webcomic Homestuck back in October ((If you couldn't tell from my avatar)) and while I enjoy it a great deal I'm proud to say I'm not one of it's OMFGCRAZYGONUTS fans writing fanfiction and making up an OC and what not.  I previously read the author's other work Problem Sleuth and watched his Star Trek Next Generation edits.  Oh yeah, and I like Star Trek.

I enjoy hiking and urban exploration and recently took up boxing ((Much to the girlfriend's chagrin))...I kinda suck at it.  I also obviously enjoy talking...A lot.  Sorry about that.

Oh and I like long walks on the beach and quiet dinners at home.

I haven't decided what board to lurk in yet but I'm sure that'll come to me soon.

Hi guys! I'm RinellaWasHere, but I'll answer to Rin, Rinella, RWH, or David. Whatever you want, really. Just not Dave. Never Dave.

I live in Portland, Oregon, and I'm an English and Education major at the University of Portland. I'm a writer, actor, and rap musician. I write science fiction and fantasy, as well as various fan fiction when the mood strikes me. I don't watch much TV, but I love me some Game of Thrones, Dr. Who, Firefly, and My Little Pony. I play tons of video games- mostly RPGs and action games, but my main criteria for choosing games is the strength of the story.

As for faith and politics, I'm a diehard liberal and a Catholic. I believe in God, but I refuse to believe in some asshole version who cares about the what (sexual orientation, race, religion), since I think all that matters is the who (are you a good person?). I've got no problem with any faith or lack thereof, sexual orientation, gender, or race, or any other qualifier. As long as you're a good person, it doesn't matter at all.

Despite my Italian last name, I'm of Scottish and Irish descent- I'm adopted. I wear a kilt pretty much all the time, and I will not tell you what's under it, so don't ask. I'm also autistic- I've got Aspergers Syndrome. If I ever act like a douche, that's probably part of the reason, and I'm sorry. Call me out on it when it happens: Aspergers is an explanation, not an excuse, and I'll be happy to apologize again.

It's good to finally be part of the FSTDT forums. I love you guys already.
Oh, you take the high road, and I'll take the low road...
