Title: Cut all the funding for the DMV, what could possibly go wrong?
Post by: The Illusive Man on April 27, 2013, 09:07:52 pm
Dear Missouri, you’re not Texas stupid yet but you’re trying. Never go full retard folks. This is not from The Onion either, the articles are from www.kansascity.com and www.rawstory.com. Have pity on The Onion, how are they supposed to compete with this?

Quote
If the entire $3.5 million allotment for the Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing Division ultimately is eliminated: “They will not be able to issue any driver’s licenses,” Schaefer, a Columbia Republican, acknowledged.

Other funding cuts target the administration in the Department of Revenue, which oversees the licensing bureau, the Department of Public Safety and the computer section of the state Office of Administration – all of which have drawn Republican ire for their roles in collecting and distributing information about concealed gun permit holders.

Republican lawmakers have asserted that people’s privacy rights have been violated by a new Department of Revenue policy intended to cut down on fraud. The procedure called for licensing clerks to make electronic copies of people’s personal documents such as birth certificates and concealed gun permits. Nixon recently ordered an end to the copying of concealed gun permits, but that has not quelled Republican frustrations. DO IT, DEW EETTT NAO! The sheer carnage created will: actually make people miss the DMV, cause hilarious amounts of political turmoil and bring in the federal government to kick the stupid out of them.

Now you might be wondering (assuming your brain cells are still alive) who lost their mind and came up with this BS. Look no further than Melissa Wilson, wife of state Rep. Kenneth Wilson (R). Because the UN iz commin’ ta geet ur gunz!

Quote
Melissa Wilson, wife of state Rep. Kenneth Wilson (R), told the committee earlier this month that she was certain that gun records had been shared with the federal government as a part of a United Nations initiative called Agenda 21, which some conservatives believe is a conspiracy to “transform America from the land of the free, to the land of the collective” through “a mind-control” tactic called the Delphi technique. (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/04/23/missouri-republicans-vote-to-stop-issuing-drivers-licenses-over-gun-records-conspiracy-theory)

I need a DERP message icon for such threads. :(

<hard core snark> Welp, the Missouri cash economy will get a boost out of it; the state will become the nation's

clearinghouse for stolen cars and stripped auto parts! Just think of Misery's convenient, in the middle-of-flyover country

location!  And I thought all they had goin' for 'em in this economy was the meth labs  ;) <snark/>

Okay , Show Me State, show us how fast you can string this fool up by his sac.

New rule: if you want to pass legislation based on your beliefs about the UN, you must first pass a basic examination about it. Results range from A for Appropriate Aptitude to C, Competent and F, Fucking Retard.  The results are public and posted on all ballots in the next election.

Whoever posted that video is gonna end up loving me.

Yeah, I might edge into overusing it, but that's about the only reaction I had when I first saw this thing!

I am actually hoping that they go through with this and the DMV is shut down, at least for a while.

I'm really sorry for the people in Missouri but it really does seem that some people with their libertarian an "small goverment" views won't learn unless they see what kind of fuck ups will follow if they actually get their way.

So, with no DMV to issue driver's licenses, are they going to let people drive without them?

Hay guize guess what is recognized as a valid form of photo ID needed to vote? (http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/voterid/) Thankfully there are alternatives means.

Why?  Why does my state have to be filled with such stupidity.  It's somewhat understandable since we are the meth capital, but still.  I need to get the hell out of here.  On the bright side, at least I'm not in Kansas.

Always funny how lawmakers are perfectly willing to cut everything but their own paychecks.

There are people who got elected based on their promise to cut down the outrageus paychecks parliament gets. At least one of these used one of her first votes on the parliament to support a proposition to increase her paychecks.

Depends upon what is considered pay.

If you're including corrupt kick-backs, I'd maybe agree. Even then you're comparing the President of the US (wage essentially $564,000 plus corrupt kick backs of, say, $5 million) with an Incompetent Banker (wage: 5 billion plus looted bonuses). I don't know that the POTUS has substantially less responsibility than the standard Incompetent Banker.

Mo. Senate Passes State Budget, De-Funds DMV, And Defeats Another Medicaid Expansion Attempt (http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/mo-senate-passes-state-budget-de-funds-dmv-and-defeats-another-medicaid-expansion-attempt)
UH-OH guiz.

Also irony.
Quote
State Senator Kurt Schaefer (R, Columbia) says Missouri’s "DMV" will remain unfunded until the Nixon Administration begins to truly cooperate with his Appropriations Committee investigation.

Quote
All 13 budget bills now go back to the Missouri House, which will likely reject most of the Senate’s changes and set up final negotiations between both chambers.  Lawmakers have until May 10th to send the budget to Governor Jay Nixon (D).

And now for a $400,000 ad blitz (http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2013/04/jay_nixon_gun_information_united_missouri.php) by United for Missouri. (http://www.unitedformissouri.org/)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZGeoVs03EM

Also a frivolous lawsuit by Eric Griffin (http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2013/03/concealed_carry_lawsuit_peter_kinder_missouri.php), now backed by Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder! (http://ltgov.mo.gov/press/030413_Fee_Office_Lawsuit.htm)
Quote
The lawsuit, full version on view below, says that Griffin fulfilled all legal requirements and approvals to obtain his official "concealed carry endorsement" before he went to the Stoddard County License Bureau to finish the process by updating his driver's license. There, the lawsuit says, a "fee office agent" told him that on behalf of the Missouri Department of Revenue, it was required that the entire permit application -- his birth certificate and residency documents, such as utility bills -- be scanned into the department's system.
