What about the chat? Will it be staying? Will that also get a new one also under the same name.

Well, the chat doesn't actually depend on the website, so it's not directly affected by this. Whether it will be renamed or not depends on the people who actually go there (i.e. not me).

How long until the new forum gets put up and this one get's taken down?

The deadline is September 16th, but I'd rather have the new place running as soon as possible. Once that's up, I'll probably close down posting and registration on these forums, let people salvage whatever they'd like from the archives and put a giant sign saying "Hey, we moved over to [new place]", until the plug is finally pulled.

I guess my only concerns are that a: we don't lose the archived material and b: that Winace's vision of a place to lampoon the idiocy of various fundies is kept alive. Just my $1.50c worth.

The mainpage will still be alive, probably. That's ultimately up to Distind, or whoever he gives it to.

Here's some stuff I got from the band name generator, with some notes in parenthesis.

From using the word "fundies/fundy" in the word input:
Fundy cannon
spinning fundies
fundy stank
Fundy boy and the seething science
Fundy boner
fundy filth
fundy commode
fundy plague and the chest (remove or replace all after "and")
besides fundies
Grotesque Fundies And The Trousers Reverend

Random names I thought suiting of note:
Stomping Mentor And The Online Insomnia
Dark Prospect
Neurosis Innocent (change to "incident")
Copious Of The Obvious (Copious Obviousness?)
Dust Of The Crew
Orderly Psychosis
Seventh Tragic (Change number to how many times the forums been fucked up and change tragic to tragedy.)
Student(s) Of The Serial Sinner
Goddess Of Regeneration (Change goddess to "community")
Fighting motor ("Eternal arguement engine" - partially inspired by a level from Sonic Adventure 2)

Random cool names of note:
Junkyard Exquisite
Uranium Guild
Molecular Fixture
Pathogen Receiver (New name for Hof?)
Armored Jesus

Stuff I stuck together from interesting words I got from the generator:
Clockwork Abortion?
Destructive Explicitness?
Institution Of The Eldritch?
Deranged Brain(s)?
Mine gave me "Poo Nation." That's what it should be named.

I'll be honest, I don't see why we have to completely start over again. If Distind doesn't want these forums to be associated with the fstdt name, wouldn't it make more sense to just rename the forums? I understand if the intent is to try to distance this new community from previous drama, but if the idea is to have all or most of the same people, chances are the same sorts of arguments either will or won't spring up regardless. I dunno, it seems to make more sense to me to rebrand the forums we already have than to lose all of this.

edit: I can haz grammar?
Given that we're going to have SMF again, might it be made the case that exactly the same configuration is used and the old forum's database is backed up using the SMF utility, sent off to the new server and restored with the use of, e.g., phpmyadmin? Then we really could keep everything exactly the same (except for the name), right?

Institution of Eldritch or even Eldritch Institute is a wi-fi network waiting to happen
There is someone who lives near me who's wi-fi network is named Arkham Asylum and there's about 3 different people who work somewhere in the local mall who have TARDIS as one.

In the end I'm going to admit that the name is not the important thing here. The community, the people and the general atmosphere are the ones I'd like to see remaining (or improving considering some of the shit that goes down here.)

Still, my vote goes for: "Institution of the Eldritch."

Because, awesome.

Why not something like: Ignorant Quotes. com

Short, simple, and pretty much covers any quote that comes through here, be they religious, political, or otherwise.

I quite like this option.
Ignorant Quotes. Its short simple, can be abbreviated to IQ, and is safe for work.

Well shit, and here I was just starting to find my niche in the community.  This is some deeply unsettling news.

Oh well, I guess if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.  I'll probably follow you guys to the new site ((Provided I can figure out how to get there)).  After all, I really like it here, even if I did spend more time at the main site anyway.

On that note, I'm gonna place my vote for Ignorant Quotes because it's short, sweet, to the point and makes sense.  That being said, will we actually be storing quotes on the new forum?  Or is it just going to be a replacement for the boards?

Ignorant Quotes is the first name I've really felt good about, so I'm casting my vote for that as well.

In Distind's thread someone suggested Whaaambulance Garage. I like that.
