Doubtful. The acronym the organization is probably most familiar with is داعش (roughly DAISH in English). Anyone familiar with ancient gods in that region may be more familiar with the Sumerian or Babylonian pantheon than an ancient Egyptian goddess.

Similarly doubtful. Syria is still up for grabs between several proxy rebel groups (from which ISIS came), Israel will continue to stir up shit with Palestine and Iran, Pakistan and India start wars along their border periodically, and the U.S. loves to carry out drone strikes in Yemen, Pakistan, etc. to keep things from getting too stable.
The only external force I could see getting enough of them fired up in opposition would be a U.S. occupation. It's possibly the worst move we could make in that region after the stint in 2003.

I won't lie. I kept thinking between that and the Egyptian goddess when I heard ISIS. Perhaps that's why they want to be known simply is the Islamic State (IS).

I think it's only getting better. Reports like this one (http://motherboard.vice.com/read/anonymous-declared-war-on-the-islamic-state) state that IS has started an internet war with Anonymous. Pardon the pun; IS seems dead serious on picking fights with the rest of the world, both physical and virtual.

This is like massive heresy, since the Caliphate can only be established by a direct recognised spiritual descendant of the Caliph of Baghdad, who was executed by the Mongols in the thirteenth century. Otherwise the Ottomans would have grabbed the title a couple of hundred years ago.

(No, I'm not really partial to the flavoured creamers. They tend to fuck with the taste of the actual coffee far too much. That goes double for garbage like Half-N-Half or plain old milk...yech.)

At this point, I don't know if there's any trustworthy sources. This is such an awful hot-button topic that every reporter has/can have a personal stake in this, whether for good or bad. While I understand most of the large-scale stuff, I'm very skeptical about any "shocking details". Call it gut instinct.

This BBC Report (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28133086) says the Saudi government is vehemently denying that claim, and state that the donations and support to IS are from private sympathizers from Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries like Kuwait.
Now the blame game with IS in Iraq and Syria is going along the Shi'a and Sunni divide.

Rome hasn't been culturally significant for several generations. The only people who'd care would be Catholics, and even then, I'd hazard a guess that quite a few of them wouldn't give a shit. If memory serves, Italy's economy is in a laughable state because of gross incompetence and mismanagement. Soooooo...go ahead and take over, there's little there worth owning, anyway. Except maybe the horde of priceless historical artifacts the Vatican might have stored in it somewheres...that would be an unfortunate loss, if that were to happen.
Then again, to these crazed fucks, having running water, working toilets, and trees would probably be a godsend.

Saudi Arabia has now deployed 30,000 troops to the Saudi Arabia - Iraq border (http://news.yahoo.com/saudi-arabia-deploys-30-000-soldiers-border-iraq-070023046.html) since the Iraqi army has abandoned the area. At least, that's what they're claiming. Baghdad denies it and says that the Iraqi army has control over areas around the border.
