Though, I've already spent the gift card on school books, I will probably give the money to my parents as they're on tough times, and the clutch is not my style, so I'll regift it. Easy come easy go, but it's still nice. And I am still up a bottle of rum and two open bar events.

Hulu has Claymore, and I found a semi-living torrent of Record of Lodoss War.  Yeah, I'm downloading it, since DVD sets of it can run nearly two hundred fucking dollars.  Oh, and Hulu seems to have a TONNE of other cool shit, too, like MXC (which used to run on Spike before it became the CSI Channel) and FUCKING DRAGON BALL Z.  Not even Netflix has DBZ.

Mum got me a $50 Amazon gift card for Christmas.  What'd I spend it on?  A multitool I plan to keep on my person at all times (never know when you need pliers or a screwdriver) and a kickass sword that is heat-treated to a rainbow colour.  Fucking prismatic ninja sword, throwing knives, and immensely useful multitool.  I think I can call that a good buy.

It had been a weird day for me today. I opened an IRA with all my Xmas money. For more on that, see the Annoying Things thread. Anyways, as I realized I am no longer, nor will ever again, be Young, watching me try to come to grips with that Mrs. Rookie made a suggestion. Perhaps I take a vacation this summer. She is spending the weekend with friends this summer. And maybe I could do with a weekend going out fishing. I get a camping trip this summer! I haven't taken a vacation since before I lost my job in '08. And it'll be a real vacation at the beach. Two nights, three days of fishing and smoking cigars and there may be a trip to the tourist beach to see who's wearing a bikini. Yes yes, I'm a pig. But with that kind of pass, one I know damn well I'm never going to get again, yeah. I'll be a pig who enjoys the view with a cold beer in my hand.

My new phone should be here today!  I love my current one, but the Google apps are all whigging out majorly and there's no way to fix it, that I can find, outside maybe a full factory reset.  If navigation doesn't work...well...can't really use it much when I'm out and about, since I can't look for anything or navigate to places I've never been or only go to infrequently, and all the other navigation apps I've looked at insist on installing gigabytes of maps to my SD card, which is a no-go, for me.  Upgrading to an LG Tribute 2 which is a bit more mainstream than my current Kyocera and got it at a pretty steep discount since I gots da Prime.  All in all, I think I'll be happy with this upgrade.
