There is supposed to be an Erykah Badu gig here on Wednesday, and a local English paper published a profile of her that includes this huge picture.

Those marking on her shoulder? They're "Allah" in Arabic. And apparently that's offensive enough for the government assholes to raise hell about it. Now its cancelled.

To recap, the article came out Monday. It was cancelled today. It was supposed to be out tomorrow.
So basically corruption and sodomy trials take years but offense over fucking tattoos take 1 day? Worse, the ban was issued by the minister who is tasked with promoting the country's culture to the world's tourist's. Way to go, asshole.
P.S. There are apparently death threats directed at Erykah Badu now. I'm still too pissed off to look for them.

I guess Islam has an anti-tattoo clause like the Old Testament Hebrew laws....
Maybe Fundieface doesn't like a "mere disgusting female" having "Allah" on her body....

Why couldn't Malaysia & Indonesia get into Buddhism & Hinduism like the other Eastern countries? Yeesh. No offense to the nice, sane Muslims out there, but C'MON GUYS, SAY SOMETHING! That's why normal Muslims don't seem to speak out a lot....either the crazies kill them, they're shamed with "You're not a true Muslim" or they're ignored by the Western media.

It should be noted that the Wahabi sect of Islam (ie;those fundie nutcases who keep killing anyone that scares them) are a heretical faction that borrows most of its ideology from christian sources.

That was my first thought as well. One of my friends comes from a Jewish family and wants some ink, but is afraid his parents will basically disown him if he does.
None the less, the overreaction is still idiotic.

My mom's Jewish and her parents wouldn't even let her get her ears pierced, let alone get a tattoo.
That being said, she's very beautiful and I personally find her tattoos sexy.

She is a beautiful woman. Although I would prefer her without the tatts. Then again my opinion on that means less than nothing.

You know that Malaysia is a muslim majority country right Zack? They were upset because they felt the tattoo's were an insult to Allah.
Armand: I wasn't a huge fan of her (other than coveting her body) but that has to be the coolest response ever. (Oh and it looks like the tattoos weren't permanent anyway as the one on her face wasn't showing)

Yeah, I noticed they hid what's probably a very pretty woman under a huge slathered layer of photoshop. Makes sense that some of the tats are fake too.
