I capitalize God when talking about the specific Judeo-Christian deity, lowercase when speaking about the concept ("Zeus was a Greek god"). This is less out of respect than the fact it just happens to be a proper noun, and my brain is annoying about that.
I do exactly the same.

I consider this more of a grammatical issue. "G-d" is a proper noun, like "Great Cthulhu" or "Meshakhad" or "Andrew Schafly", whereas "god" is a noun.

I mean, He obviously doesn't care a whole lot about it. Otherwise, when He gave us His laws, He would have chosen a language that HAD capital letters!

You know, it's interesting, often times my comments will not go through on Fundie articles, even though there are plenty of other skeptics. Often, I wonder if it's just my computer, or if they only allow a token amount of skepticism through.

I am reading at present a fine novel by a writer I admire, and whom, for that reason, I will not mention by name. But this novel has an irritating feature. The word ‘God’ appears throughout as ‘god’.

It must be wonderful to be a priest and not concerned with world hunger, war, poverty, abuse of the innocent, or a worldwide child sex abuse scandal so you can concern yourself with whether or not people capitalize the world you use for your imaginary friend of choice.

On a possibly related hypocritical note, many Christians will refuse to capitalize the name "Satan," or "Lucifer" in defiance of the rules of grammar, stating some nonsense he doesn't deserve the respect. Even when they write novels or books on theology, they will write "satan" in all lower-case.

Capitalization does not equal respect, you morons.
