On facebook, my sister posted an article about a woman who thought she was pregnant with triplets, but ending up having four babies. The woman is over 40 and the pregnancy was unplanned.
Two people who commented on her link were very annoying. One of them called it a true blessing, despite the fact that such pregnancies can be very high-risk for the mom and kids, and that the kids are likely to have severe developmental issues. The other one said that her grandmother gave birth when she was 38 and the kid turned out okay. And therefore the kids should be fine. Well fudge, if it happened to someone you know, then that just invalidates every single study that has proved increased likelihood of birth defects with older mothers. That's totally how it works.
