I was gonna post this in petty prayers but figured it could use a different spot. I also don't know if this goes in Religion and Philosophy.
I saw this bumper sticker that simply said "Pray For the End to Abortion" on it on a van that seemed to be owned by some sort of work place, like for cable or something. They also had a sticker for the local Christian radio station.
I don't know why but it just... stuck with me.
Why would you pray for this? In a way you're praying for the mother to die with the child, too since you're asking for an end to abortion. Not to mention the complications that come about from rape cases and everything else.
I just think it's really sick to 'pray for an end to abortion'.

Well obviously, the solution is to not get preggers in the first place! You knew the risks of having sex, or you wore skimpy clothes, or you were otherwise a whore in the eyes of God. Stop being so selfish and try to spare your own life instead of the babies'! What kind of monster are you?
Ugh, that hurt to type.

I'd be fine with them praying to end of abortion in lieu of actually trying to pass legislation banning or limiting access to it, even with the disturbing implications.

I want a bumper sticker that says, "Pray to end stupidity!"

I prefer: "Jesus, please protect me from your followers."

One would have to assume that since the time abortion became legal that those opposed to it have praying for it to end. How's that worked out for them?
-
Not well, that's why they have to keep attempting to violate the Constitution!

Meaningless slogans frequently substitute for thought.

God aborts babies all the time. Some 40% of pregnancy is aborted by him often without the mother ever knowing she was pregnant. So praying to end abortion is basically telling God to fuck off anyways.

Instead of praying to end abortion, they could make birth control more available, teach it in school, help young parents in poverty feed their kids...
but no. They'd rather just pray because it makes them feel better without having to really do anything.

Here's what the bumper sticker kinda looked like:

except it had red font and I don't think it referenced 40 days for life.

At least they're doing something useless instead of bombing abortion clinics and terrorizing women and doctors.

Pretty much this.

Of course they want to end abortion, but they're unwilling to do what they need to do in order for us to even attempt to do so. Our adoption system is poorly run and overloaded, our foster system is a complete and utter farce, and do I really need to go on about their boner against birth control and sex ed?
I believe the states with abstinence-only ed are the ones with the highest teen pregnancy rates? And even if the reforms above were done, it STILL would take more work, such as helping pregnant women get through those months they can't work. Not every job offers maternity leave, after all.
But then, I suppose I can't expect less from "pro-life" groups who aren't willing to think beyond the birth of the child.

I've seen similar bumper stickers, it always leaves me shaking my head in disgust. But god forbid they actually do something that would result in less abortions like supporting birth control use & education.

These are the same people who think everyone must remain abstinant and debt free.
