...I am reasonably sure the next one will be East European
somehow. Also, isn't Excalibur's Return entirely based on the idea of Jaime being King? There are multiple references to him in it.
And the whole conceit of it is Jacob's experience of a vision of a parallel universe where JAIME is the King. So unless the parallel universe he supposedly speaks of changes its legitimate new king whenever Jacob finds a new totally legit heir...
Ergo I think the current version will do just fine.
Also, gonna have to put off chapter 9 and 10 until tomorrow - got to head to bed early for an appointment tomorrow. But I do have a teaser for Chapter 10.
Gabriel clasped Arondight tightly as he regarded the dark image before him. This was a fiendish foe indeed, to despoil the images of the fallen. King Jaime stood before them, a crude copy of Excalibur held in his hand. "I...apologize, sire, I will do my best to free your soul from this foul enchantment..."
Fighting off the necromantic controls, King Jaime choked out some words, "I am...so...sorry, Gabriel...for...for everything..."
Gabriel's eyes widened, he knew not what his past king spoke of. But he knew now he had to get past this to stop Bethicia from raising any more undead slaves.
Speaking of whom, the demoness grinned too widely for her face, speaking with a notable reverb, "A brave and handsome knight, forced to SLAY the one he swore to serve - this is why I ADORE humans. The pain they're capable of expressing is too adorable! I want nothing less than the utmost pain from Gabriel Dulac, my undead slave! Flay him, layer by layer! Let him know suffering at the hand of his dear friend! Demon Lord Lucifer will be so pleased by this show I'm putting on!"
