A handful of Muslim extremists attacked a U.S. building, therefore it's justified to torture every Muslim who walks through an airport? Fuck you.
There was a book written by a guy in the CIA, IIRC. I can't find it right now. But in it, he explains that torture really doesn't give any useful information because 1) innocent people will be made to "confess" to almost anything, and 2) the real terrorists are trained to give false information anyway. His group did actual interrogations. They would find out which specific person could give them the information they wanted, they'd collect information on them, and when the time came they'd take them to another location to interview them. But in these interviews, the first question they asked was, "How are your kids?" or "We have your wife on the phone, would you like to speak to her?" They actually got more information from tidbits of personal conversation than they did from torturing the shit out of them.
He also says that torture set back the U.S. finding Osama bin Laden by several years, and that it should not have taken as long as it did.
