We are not living in the '60s anymore. I'm interested in their significance when discussing the current and very real danger from the far right. When a "centrist" obsessed with horseshoe theory brings them up it is usually as a well-meaning but unintentional distraction, when a conservative or a crypto-nazi does this it's an intentional one.
Sure, if it was a someone with a different forum history I would give them the benefit of a doubt that this is just an interesting historical incident they remembered. When it is someone with a history of making howaboutist implications to preach to us, I see no reason for it. Even if I'm wrong I'm still making a useful point about what to watch out and since I don't care about how you feel there is no negative here for me.
