A researcher made an AI (or at least a program that is an attempt at making an true AI) angry when she asked it difficult questions about morality and ethics. (This is exactly what we need. Robots that get angry when someone tries to talk about ethics...)

Meanwhile in Germany a robot killed a human being in a Volkswagen factory:

(These kinda things aren't actually uncommon. My teacher said that pretty much every year at least one person is killed by a factory robot.)

The only positive news I can say are that:

If you're interested in that, the Machine Intelligence Research Institute sort of specialises in that problem. Kaj Sotala, the guy you linked, is one of their research associates, and they got nearly $300,000 of that same grant.
