It should not matter that a politician is gay.

The fact that he threatened to deport his boyfriend if he went public though makes him a douchebag. Seriously he was basically blackmailing the guy into a relationship and staying quiet.

True, but when you associate yourself with candidates who are specifically in the negative on gay rights issues while secretly being a somewhat emotionally abusive (what else could threatening to ruin the life of your ex if he ever spoke up be?) secret homosexual yourself, that shit is kinda entertaining to the public. Especially when you're vocally opposed to illegal immigration and your secret boyfriend was an immigrant of questionable legality.

Though I'd be interested to find out (but don't care enough to bother) if he had himself vocally opposed gay rights, or if he was a bit of a single-issue candidate on immigration.

Normally I wouldn't care if a politician was gay. It wouldn't affect my opinion of them one way or the other. But if a politician constantly votes against gay rights and compares homosexuality to screwing animals then turns out to be gay, I say spread the word.

Lexikon: As do I. The partner was in between a rock and a hard place. It makes this as much a celebration of karma as it does of the delicious irony being delivered. As others have said, it isn't so much that the sheriff was being gay, as it was the way he treats gays and immigrants.

It shows that hypocrisy really is a full-time job.
