but are long game and haven't been posted on this site. People say stupid and scary things online. A lot of it's forgetable, but there are two things I remember.
The first was an actual fundie. My first impression was that it was just another run of the mill fire and brimstone preacher who made a website, but then he got into this prophecy conspiracy stuff. This guy thought the jews were the anti Christ and had all these paranoid ramblings about how they were enemies of God. He also made a jab at Martin Luther King, saying that what he did was good, but he was not a good person (I take it with a grain of salt).
What I found most interesting was he was an ex universialist. Universialists don't believe in eternal hellfire and believe that everyone will end up in heaven in the end. It's a hopeful and peaceful faith, but this guy thought they were selfish and arrogant. Yes, a faith offers hope for everyone is selfish and arrogant.
He said that the God who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah is one he could actually respect and look up to,
and believed that God would protect him and his family personally. He would go on fiery rants about people who get abortions, saying "the abortionist will weap and wail and gnash their teeth for all eternity" and "how dare they kill God's children!" "god is a god of love, but God is also an ANGRY GOD".
Then there were his views on near death experiences. Now, I don't know a whole lot about them (again, I take them with a grain of salt), but surely the "being of light" encountered isn't a Satanic deception trying to lead people to hell. Well, that's what this clown thought (and a few others). Because "God" wasn't a harsh judge who demanded repentance, he must have been a fake.
Now the second one wasn't so much a fundie as it was a macho military asshole, but
a recent post, reminded me of this. Several years ago, there was a death involving one of those youth camps. The pigs in charge were pretty rough with the kid even after he had passed out (recieving no medical attention despite a nurse being present). Obviously, they did something wrong, but this one guy didn't think so. Not only did he defend the pigs,
he took offense to the fact that someone would dare criticize them. After all, they were preparing him for war and war is tough. When pointed out that no, this was just some behavioral camp, he still defended them, saying that they were doing their job. After all, how are they going to tell between the "pussies" and the "real men" (he actually used those terms). After that, I was blown away at how cruel people could be, then I started reading the posts on this site.
