Conservative Rabbis create guidelines for gay weddings

Under Judaic law.

They're using a form of Judaic contract law as the basis for gay weddings, so they're done somewhat differently, but they are ONLY guidelines, and rabbis aren't bound to use them (they're free to do the wedding their way if they wish). The Jewish church already recognize gay marriages, but when a rabbi was asked to do one, he got blindsided, thus the discussion here.

We got to recognize good when we see it, and the rabbis here are all okay by me.

Give them credit where it is due. That is a lot more than most religious organizations have done. Perhaps not yet ideal, but a good step in the right direction.

Conservative Judaism is a lot different from Conservative Christianity, that's for sure.

Even if it wasn't, good on them for this.  Gays should have the same right to be religious and participate in religious exercises, including marriage, that everyone else does, and this is a step in that direction.

Conservative Jews are much much different than conservative Christians. IIRC, there are Reconstructionist, Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox wherein Orthodox is much like conservative Christians.
