I love families. I smile and get all warm and fuzzy inside when I see a young hetero couple in love. Kids are precious, and I love seeing them play and run around, and it makes my day when they say hi to me and come play with my two dogs when we're out on walks. I also live within a neighborhood where the people would not bat an eyelash if they haven't already figured out that I'm a lesbian. Two of the most admired people in my immediate neighborhood are a male couple, who have adopted their frail, elderly next door neighbor, since her children live in another state. They take her shopping, they nursed her night and day when she got the flu, they do her gardening for her, they take her to church services (Episcopalian) and sit with her. Unfortunately, this state of normalcy is still the exception to the rule in too many places around the world.
